I hadn't been paying attention, but am amused by the pictures.  The dress in question is not the most flattering.

Surprised at all the anger directed at them though. We see ostentatious, even tasteless displays of wealth and consumption all the time, especially in show biz precincts, and in other high profile "social" weddings that have been mentioned.

I adore Venice, my favorite European city, and would have expected the Venetians to shrug and take the whole thing in stride, and in the easy going, pragmatic Italian tradition of "live and let live".

Despite all the hyped-up ire, hope the whole enterprise has a salutary effect on their economy.

I think they blew it - JMO but they should have had it during Lauren's Blue Origin space flight! 

Schiaparelli could have designed a white space suit for Lauren and they could have exchanged rings at zero gravity...

Of course, a middle aged, divorced twice, would wear white to her third narriage............

Well, they look happy.  Whatever else, I wish them well and hope that happiness lasts.

And I hope those buttons all down the front are just for show and there's a zipper in the back!  Otherwise, it's going to be a long wedding night.
