I like Bette Midler but I don't like that song.

Did she seem slimmer? I thought she did.

Hi, occasional rain - she's slimmer than she used to be years ago, but I think the dress she was wearing was very flattering on her, too. The way it had that dark area at the waist was slenderizing, and, overall, it was so age-appropriate. When women get a little older, I feel it's actually more aging if they wear things that are usually better suited to a 30- or 40-something....like they're trying too hard to look young. I know, I know....age is a state of mind, but I still try to avoid fashions that are too young for me: they'd just look silly on me.

Another great song by Bette - "The Rose" - so beautiful and emotional...

You are so right, "The Rose" is one of my favorites along with "Wind Beneath My Wings". I can't imagine anyone else singing those two songs. Pink did a great job tonight too, she has a great voice.

I thought she looked good too. I always think she's bigger than she is, must be her big personality.

I was sobbing when she sang.

Was Yuban, then changed to Plaid Pants due to forum upgrade, and apparently, I'm back to being Yuban.

Beautiful. I had tears, too. Saw her being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on the Red Carpet, and she was so excited. She mentioned being nervous, too, which surprised Ryan, and Bette mentioned it was because she would be performing in front of her peers. She's also so expressive when she sings. Besides having an incredible voice, I love just watching her perform.

I love Bette! Her performance was top notch!

Traveler, yes that was from "Somewhere in Time" (by Rachmaninoff). It's my favorite move.

I love that score. So beautiful. Really like the movie, too.

From Bette's Facebook page:

Everyone wants to know what I said off mic at the end of the song. I said "I feel like I just won the Olympics!" Now, that's a wrap. Thanks to everyone for their kind words and well wishes!

Thanks for that. I heard her say, "I feel like...." , and really wanted to know what followed!

Have always liked Bette......and have always thought she was such a pretty woman. And I think she looked great last night and sounded wonderful.

The dress she had on was just simply beautiful. Perfect for who she is......

And I think she still has a lovely voice......we all know that once we start aging, we just don't sound like we used to.....I used to love to sing, and I know I surely don't sign like I used to..... In fact, I find I don't sing much any more in church, and that is where I used to love to sing. The old familiar hymns.....

Did she change dresses? The pictures from the red carpet showed her in a beautiful red floral flocked gown but that is not what she wore to sing in???
