Bed Bath & Beyond Part II

[ Edited ]

It appears BBB is back to being on its own.  According to BBB investors website, Overstock took over BBB "brand."

Looks like the tables have turned.  BBB OWNS Overstock not just its brand.

BBB website still had my old user name & password active.  20% coupons are back apparently just online for now.  Site looks like the site of old......

An employee at The Container Store in my neck of the woods told me BBB will be taking over the store in a few months.  Reason why the 30%-50% store wide sales that has been going on for weeks!

I never liked BB&B.  I found their items to be boring for the most part.  I know there were some basics that I bought with a coupon that were the same wherever you got them,  but in general,  was not a fan.  I did find a lot of cool stuff on OVERSTOCK and much preferred that site.  I was sad when they were sold to BB&B.

@Mz iMac - that makes me sad. While I absolutely love Container Store, I like it just the way it is now. Not crowded with Bed Bath and Beyond merchandise.

Wow - THAT wasn't on my bingo card!  I do miss the BBB that was a couple of blocks away from me, but I never shopped at their website.  If a brick and mortar one reappears like Brigadoon I may be a customer.  Thanks for the advance notice.

That's good news! I loved browsing in that store.  I now wish that Pier One would come back.

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond Part II

It's been like this. Overstock bought the BBB name and intellectual propery. I wish it had been the other way because BBB had the best bath mats. I did like their stores and it was the kind of place that could convince me that if I only bought that one item I would cook more. LOL. Stopped liking it so much when they added the whole health and beauty aids section and it just turned into something different. I did score a great deal on my first Shark vacuum way back when.

The stuff on the current website is much more like Overstock

I just popped into my local container Store and the "sale" is very limited. They had an area in the center of the store designated as sale.

So many exclusions: XOXO, Elfa, hangers, things like steamers.

There was no gift wrap supplies at all in the store.

@granddi - yeah, when I've gone into my local Contrainer Store, it looks like huge clear out.

@Pecky

Pier One, in the early to mid 80s they had a beautiful assortment of gauze dresses and flowy tunic tops or peasant blouses...I too wish they were back now that you mention it.

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond Part II

There is no Container Store in my area, unless I want to drive across the state to Miami.  Not ever happening.  I liked BB&B when they added the health and beauty section as I found some interesting Korean and Asian beauty products that I was able to purchase without having to order them online.  All the dedicated kitchen stores in my area have gone belly-up so I hope BB&B comes back as a retail store in my area.  I never can find what I need in the mish-mash of stuff in a Home Goods store and Walmart doesn't cut it.
