@On It.  Their size is amazingly deceptive.  They don't look so big when photographed at a distance.  That beast couldn't even stand up in the average house.

@On It   They are quite amazing.  I got to go on a Polar Bear expedition in Churchill Canada 7 years ago and it was really something to see.   We went to witness the migration (they migrate in October) and got to see them fairly close up at times on the tundra.  DH got some beautiful photos on that trip.  The very small town has quite a small population. 

 We stayed at the Lazy Bear Lodge which was quite rustic.  It's the coldest I've ever been in my life and it snows a lot.  While we had dinner in the dining room a polar bear was literally on the back deck.  Later someone took a photo of their footprint inside the polar bears print in the snow.........it was unbelievable the size difference!   

That trip was a blessing for me.

@LindaSal   Talk about a once in a lifetime trip!  You sure got to experience one.  I'll bet it was magical getting to stay there and witness so much of natures beauty firsthand.  I don't know anyone who's even had an experience remotely close.  You're so lucky!😊💝

WOW!😲 This certainly puts things into perspective!!! They are massive!!!😁 To know that these MAGNIFICENT creatures are losing some of their natural habitat due to global warming, and up to two thirds of their population face extinction by 2050 is heartbreaking!💔 I hope we can solve the greenhouse gas emissions crisis so that they are around for my dear grandchildren and their children to enjoy! Thank goodness for conservation efforts!😊

Their hairs are hollow, too, to make it more insulative plus their skin is black to absorb sunlight for warmth.
