Meats At Sams Club and Costco

It seems to me that the cut beef in the meat department doesn't have a good aged beef flavor.  I will buy stew beef to make stew, or a round roast which I cook in mushroom gravy.

We bought ribeye steaks once, no more.  No flavor.

I do like their baby back pork ribs.

How are the meats if you shop these stores?

Re: Meats At Sams Club and Costco

I was just telling someone that the meats in our Sam's Club are excellent.  I just made a rack of baby backs yesterday and they were very tender and delicious.

When prices were not as ridiculous as they are now,  I purchased a lot of Flank Steaks there... and the occassional Rib Eye and Porterhouse.  They were very good.   Their New Zealand lamb chops taste delicious on the grill.

We used to buy prime filet roasts at Costco & then cut them into steaks ourselves.  They were always excellent.  However, the last time we tried to buy one they no longer had prime meat, so we tried the choice & it was not good at all.

The baby back pork ribs continue to be very good.

@ECBG  We don't buy the better cuts of meat at Costco. They are too fresh, and the flavor just isn't there. The best we can find is from a local farm. Not cheap, but at least they have flavor. We'll buy the Premio sausage, ribs, chicken and fish at Costco. But, that's it.

I didn't know that Costco or Sam's Club sell aged beef.  I have only ever bought their fresh beef.  I will take a closer look next time I'm there.

I don't know if Sams has aged beef. The poster wrote about Costco.

No issue with the baby back ribs, just steaks trayed beef except stew meat.

I buy all our meat at Costco. Ground beef, steaks, lamb chops, roasts, chicken. Never had a problem.

This does not surprise me. When we purchase meat/poultry we buy it from a local farmer and it has good flavor.  Berkshire pork is excellent and tastes the way pork should taste.  That is available from one of our local grocery stores.
