In the 20 plus years that I have been shopping with QVC, I have not had any problems with QVC concerning returns nor with the shopping channel in Florida and not even the Minnesota one until now.
I returned an expensive bracelet via UPS, to EL, at their warehouse in Kentucky, but made a foolish mistake and did not insure it. When I returned home, I realized my mistake but it was too late, the UPS facility was closed for the evening.
I never had any problems with packages being stolen or whatever, using UPS, so I felt ok with not insuring the package.
When I inquired about the return a few weeks later, I was informed that the package was recieved but that the bracelet was not in the box, just the plastic bag and the return receipt, so they would send the empty box back to me!
Rest assured, that bracelet was in the box when I sealed it!
It was an ugly bracelet (seeing it in person) and did not fit anyway!
I am angry at myself for not insuring the bracelet, for then I could have had UPS check into its disappearance. Since the entire box itself did not disappear, I feel that the bracelet grew legs and wandered away in EL's Kentucky warehouse.
Perhaps I should have placed the bracelet in the box, in front of the service person at UPS, sealed the box in front of them and had them sign an affadavit stating that the bracelet was in the box!
I had to learn a very expensive lesson and I should have known better!
Sender beware...Insure expensive items!

I am sorry this happened to you. Many years ago I mailed gold earrings back to QVC uninsured. The post office fired an employee for theft shortly after but my earrings were never found. Now I insure everything...lesson learned.

UPS has an automatic insurance value of $50. In addition, they will investigate ANY theft that occurs. We are talking the brown and yellow logo UPS, right?

It was suggested on another "Q" forum to send back returns in a USPS Priority envelope because it come with tracking and starts with $50 of insurance.

While this is unfortunate, I think ti unfair to lay blame on someone in the warehouse. The truth is you do not know what happenedto the bracelet.
Evine does instruct those returning merchandise to ensure it for the value of the product if not using their SmartLabel returns. While UPS can investigate, at this point, it is probably just an expensive lesson learned.

Interesting scenario. I'm not sure insurance would have helped in this case. Isn't the insurance is for package delivery? UPS did deliver it.
I have no idea how to resolve the case when customer says the item was in the box, and the receiving company says it wasn't. I think this is a case where the company (seller) should give the customer the benefit of the doubt and issue a refund.
Sorry your item was lost.

Thanks....
Yes, it is the Big Brown UPS...
I believe that packages not insured for more are covered for $100.00 but unfortunately, the bracelet was worth more.
I spoke with the service person that took the package and he told me that he would check with UPS concerning any investigation and I am waiting, but I really think that all is lost.
I do not have proof that the bracelet was in the box....
I wrote a letter to the CEO of Evine concerning the loss but I have no expectaitions of hearing from anyone.

@Neversaynever3dogs It may be $100; I'm not sure, to be honest. I do know there is a base insurance amount you can receive if something happens to an item.
I've a few things not arrive and had to have Fed Ex and UPS investigate; took months before I received a credit for the item. In return, I've had the same thing happen to me when shipping something out and the item, SOMEHOW walked OUT of the box because it was missing when received. Here's the thing:
in one case, the item wasn't missing but was pocketed by the receiving warehouse worker for the merchant. So, you can't assume it was someone working for UPS or USPS or Fed Ex that is taking something.... internal theft is HUGE and that might be wear it went.

I don't think that UPS people have the time to check out the boxes, open them up, take out merchandise, seal the box, and send it on its way.
Could happen, I suppose....
And yes, you are right...
I have no idea what happened to the bracelet but return receivers in the warehouse do open the boxes to obtain the receipt and check the merchandise.
Just seems suspicious to me.
Either way, I made a stupid mistake and that is where the blame lies.

I'm terribly sorry that happened to you. This could be entirely coincidence, but there may be something fishy at the EL warehouse (or possibly the UPS that services them). About a month ago I ordered a beautiful Ammolite ring from the Gems en Vogue collection. It was sent to me from EL via Surepost, which is UPS to my local USPS. My mail carrier delivered an empty bubble pack to my mailbox. It had a large knife slit in it, and the only thing inside was the packing slip. EL was, however, very gracious in giving me a full refund for the ring as soon as I notified them. I've never had this problem with any other vendor, and I order everything online.......there are always packages arriving for me. BTW, I always use the prepaid return labels when I need to return something.
