JMHO, but I think they're rather hideous. Again, JMHO.

I saw them , leans on a slim 20 something with a black cropped tee. She looked cute. I have to be careful of wide leg style pants at my age which is Old...to say the least.

I never liked them, for all of the reasons already mentioned, but I just go a pair from Talbots, and I love them.  They are a knit, more like a straight leg, I think.  Maybe they shouldn't have been called "barrel"?  I don't think I would like them in a denim or stiffer material

I am not a fan of wide leg pants overall prefer a straight leg.  I am 5'9, about 140 lbs.

There are lots of pants styles that go in and out of fashion.  The ones I never wore were the stirrup pants. Yuck.

I purchased a pair from D&C.  I've worn them twice.  Tonight they go into the laundry and then into my "donation" bag.  I just don't like the look.

Let's throw them in the barrel.

I think they would be unflattering on me also, tho I am not as petite as you are.  I would think they will at some point have a petite range of sizes for someone like yourself.

I was curious about how they would look on me so I made a trip to the mall and tried on several barrel jeans made by different brands. They were all returned back on the rack. Not for me.
