Re: Banning Orca Shows at SeaWorld

I agree the captive whale for show stuff should end. I also agree with irshgrl that we need to be responsible in caring for those creatures who may not be able to be released into the wild.

Yes, we must start somewhere. Now is better than later.

SeaWorld was my favorite outing as a kid and as a teen I'm ashamed to say. The orcas need to be released.

I hope that measure passes and I hope other states follow suit. It's time we ended the practice of imprisoning and torturing those magnificent animals. We have to begin somewhere, we can't just say "well, what about the elephants". It's a process, Orcas today. Elephants and large apes tomorrow. It's 2014, it's time. Sea World is business, they can reinvent themselves. Or go out of business.

well said.

I can't bring myself to watch "Blackfish". I couldn't even watch "Free Willy" all the way through.

When I was young I read "The Day of the Dolphin". Since then I've been fascinated with whales and dolphins and I truly believe to imprison these intelligent beings is a crime.
