I don't know who this host is you are talking about but it isn't as simple as saying bangs or no bangs.

There are all types of face shapes and some people just look better with bangs. For instance those with longer faces almost always look better with bangs. There are also tons of different styles of bangs.

It is like saying someone shouldn't be a blond. There are 7 different levels of blond from dark blond to ultra lightest blond and then there are all of the tones of blond from very red to very ashy. The beige blonds alone have about 7 or 8 different tones. There is a blond that can work for anyone as there is a bang that can work for anyone.

@mima, if I could get mine that long, I'd leave them too.  I can't get past eye length before they drive me nuts.  LOL

@Lipstickdiva  Ok, this is the story.  I went to the same hairdresser I'll call Mary for probably 10 years and I had bangs the whole time.  I decided to grow them out and we had been working on it for months.

My granddaughter graduated from beauty school and opened a salon.  I was attached to Mary, so it was sad to explain to her that I was leaving.  She said "don't let her cut off your bangs".  LOL

My bangs were still short enough they wouldn't tuck behind my ears if I was busy and my hair was in my eyes, so I was using a single bobbi pin.  I really hated this look, and wore it for months.  I still had the bobbi pin when I walked into my GD's shop.

So I made my first appt. with my granddaughter.  Before I went, I asked my grandson and his girlfriend (both older teens) if I should cut my bangs and they both said no.

When I got to my appt. with GD, I asked her about my bangs.  She said NO, don't cut them.  The other stylist in the salon said the same thing.

I am not kidding, it wasn't but a week or two later and I could finally tuck them behind my ears.  I try not to do this, but occasionally it is a "must do".

So I have bangs finally that I'm not wavering to cut off!  LOL

My hair is only a couple inches shorter than my bangs now.

No bangs since one of my brothers found a pair of scissors and decided to play barber shop when I was 4.

I have short hair with bangs for years. I love having bangs. I tell people then it hides your forehead lines. lol. (I dont have big lines just light but still). Plus I look better with short hair and bangs. When I tried to grow my hair back out length wise I looked older! So I think it depends on the person.

Does anyone know people with straight hair but permed bangs?  I know two people that have worn their hair like that for years and I think it is a terrible look.  Reminds me of Little Bo Peep.

@hoosieroriginal..........I saw Erin this morning and IMO looks great.  Looks like she darkened her hair also.

I thought her hair cut made her look younger love her with bangs.

Bangs! I don't have the face to support a no-bang style.

Of course, a lot depends on the person and face shape.  Overall, though, I think bangs give a softer look.  I think of how Lisa Robertson looked with her hair all pulled back off her face.  It looked too severe.  When the hair isn't pulled back I think bangs look better than just having it hanging straight down.

I think Lisa was going for the 'severe' look when she had her hair pulled back.  She always has the option to pull it back and up, but still leave her longer bangs to fall to the side and dangle, which I also think is elegant.

You can still have bangs, but give the illusion that you don't.  I pull mine back in a clip, usually doing a poof of bump and you can't till if I have bangs or not.

I love the option of having bangs, but never have them short (at brows).
