Re: Back Fence in August - still hot!!!

Hello there fencers - not much going at my area of the fence. Weather has been pretty (no rain) which has enabled people to clean out their flood damaged basements. I may have gotten some rain run off in my basement, but I work with two guys who had 9 inches and 2 feet. They happened to have made their basements man caves - so we are talking appliances, furnace, sofas, bars all damaged. They also had raw sewage back up - EWWW. Come to find out some had flood insurance, but their insurance companies said, well it wasn't a flood, it was a sewage back up and you don't have back up insurance so it's not covered {#emotions_dlg.scared}These insurance companies sure know how to work it don't they - anything to not pay a claim {#emotions_dlg.angry}

Re: Back Fence in August - still hot!!!

you are so right birdmama. We got insurance for backup in case our sump pump dies, which it did once and was not covered.

we are watching my daughters dog while they are in Hawaii celebrating there 20th anniversary.How is this POSSIBLE I ask you??!!!!!!

Well, I have been sick AGAIN!!!!! was sick over last weekend and saw my gastro. on Monday. wer decided that I needed a ERCP done, which is going down into my stomach and into my bile duct and opening it up. So, after his visit I went to his nurse to schedule. She said, I choose two different Drs., that it would be done Oct.29. Are they nuts???????? I can not go on like this. I was sick again the last three days, almost went to hosp. but EMT said I was not dehydrated. I got a call just before dinner and they could do it in Sept., a little better. This is a new group of Drs. for me. there are 6 of them and I think they overbook. I so miss my PCP who was a gastro.,he had to close his office because of health reasons. He' ll never know how much I miss him.

One good thing, they will start on our new deck on Monday so we should get a lot of use out of it this year. Am already looking at furniture on line at Costco. they have some great sectional pieces I love.

Hope everyone is well. sorry to be complaining so much, but am having a rough time of it. I have lost 22 pounds.Yes I needed to, but not by being sick!!!!!

Everyone stay well, and keep in touch.

Epi - you have illustrated exactly what I think is wrong with health care today. The medical fields tells people, be proactive, have yourself checked, focus on preventive care. So we do and then when something goes wrong, it's a case of hurry up and wait. I never would have dreamed that I would have to wait 3 months to see an endocrinologist.

A few years ago I went through two days of being ill and passing some blood. This happened before memorial day. I saw my doctor within 2 days. I didn't get in to see an GI doctor until 4th of July. When he said it would be a good idea to have a colonoscopy (my Dad had colon cancer - but survived it), I asked him, will I be waiting until Labor Day?

It turned out to be nothing, but if it had been something bad - heavens know what stage I would have been all by the time I got in to see a doctor.

I'm glad that you are going to have the procedure earlier in September. Perhaps they can put you on a cancellation list in case someone bows out and they can get you in earlier.

Birdmama, the test was changed to Sept. Because of a cancelation. I just don't get it!!!!!! Is there a shortage of Drs????? I think not for there are 6 in this practice,plus a P. A. And a nurse practioner. The problem is they work out of at least 3 hospitals and have 3 different offices. Trying to do way too much,and we pay dearly,with our health not money wise!!!! ,

Epi - am so sorry to hear you have not been well. I too would love to lose 20 pounds but I agree, not by being sick. I stopped smoking and this once skinny person got a tad chunky and I think I eat well so you can never tell. Hang in there and I will say an extra prayer you will feel better.

Bird Mama, hope things are well with you.

Queen Sue, what's happening in your part of Texas?

Still stinking HUMID out here. I just detest it when I am sitting IN THE HOUSe, get up and walk to the kitchen or wherever and start feeling a tad wet and that is with the ACs running. Not my kind of weather

Am bringing down some cold watermelon as that always tastes good. If you do not like that, will also bring some canteloup. Surely one of the two will work for you. Good thing we have a lot of shade around this fence as it certainly is needed.

School is back in session in my area and they still have no buses. Schools will probably be on minimum day all week - dumb - and I was headed to the store and I saw a bunch of youngsters with faces beet red and in a couple cases almost purple. You know they were just miserable.

I need to get out there and refill the bird feeders - just too miserable to do it now. Will try and remember to do this later. They empty the feeders really fast. Need to also clean out the birdbath - it sure gets dirty and the water is gone in minutes.

Hope all have a great day!!!!!!!!!

Re: Back Fence in August - still hot!!!

Hello there Fencers - nothing really exciting happening around here this week so far. We are expecting storms this afternoon and evening and even though the flood risk is lower than last week, the wind is expected to be bad. I'm more scared of wind that water so it will be a nail-biter for me.

My sparrow couple in the birdhouse outside finally had a successful clutch. They lost their first single birth to a predator in May, the second single birth to the weather and a premature fledge in June. Two healthy babies fledged in the last couple of days. I periodically checked in on them in the birdhouse (via step stool) once they got big enough to approach the opening of the house to eat. All they'd see is one green eye and I told them, no jumping out until you're ready, okay?

Probably scared them into staying in the house, but I don't care {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Nothing much to chat about except it is so humid - STILL!!!!! Do not like that stuff.

Hello to one and all and those who have not stopped by, do wish you would as we sure need some more company. We have great comfy chairs, fans, trees, and someone always brings some food - stop by PLEASE.

Re: Back Fence in August - still hot!!!

Well, the weather is not cooperating with my scheduled vacation time - it's humid and icky outside. I started yesterday and go back Tuesday (5 days off that only cost me 2 vacation days). My employer gives employees a day off for their birthday once you've been there 15 years so I used that too.

Went to the car dealer and had an oil change and brake check. The service advisor looked so disappointed when he told me my brakes were in good shape . I was thrilled because that saved me over $600. I got my haircut in the afternoon, glad that's done. I'm not a fussy kind of gal. I wash my hair, slap some suave styling gel in it and that's about it. I didn't own a hair dryer for years and finally bought one last fall - for a tile project in the kitchen {#emotions_dlg.lol}

My sister learned yesterday that she was hired for a job that she applied for. This is a blessing for her and me as I've been supporting two households for several months. I am taking her to the Olive Garden for lunch today to celebrate. I'm not much of a drinker, but today I will be having a cocktail with my pasta. {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

How's the Back Fence doing in California? I read about an earthquake and geography isn't my strong suit

Re: Back Fence in August - still hot!!!

For this go round, we in Sou Cal escaped the earthquake up in Napa. This may sound weird but if I have a preference give me a tornado or a hurricane. My scariest thing is fires, followed by earthquakes. Many say I am lacking some brain power but we all have ideas about things. Have felt the earth rumble, have been in a hurricane and tornado but as I said, I am terrified of fires. We have had several big ones nearby and they are terrifying to say the least.

Great day in church - Olin preached and he just keeps getting better and better and he has a wild and warped sense of humor and it helps. LOL. Weather not horrible today - yep, got a tad warm but had NO AC on - how sweet that is.

Do not have a cotton picking thing - food wise - to leave. Now that is pretty sad isn't it. We didn't even have any milk and I was too tired to go and get some. Am truly tired of a million trips a day to get things that disappear. Never have done that in my life - shame on them.

Hope all had a great day.
