Thanks to all of you for your kind words and concerns. This has been going on for several months and I have reached the end of the rope where my daughter is concerned. She seems to have forgotten who was there for her throughout her entire life and has become very self obsessed. I have always been the kind of person who never asked anyone for anything but was there for anyone who needed me. At this point fixed income or not I will call a cab no matter how much it costs. I can't allow my daughter to play games with my health.

Sophiamarie, how sweet of you to say you would send your husband to take me to the doctor. I'm almost at the point of posting a note on the two nearest mail boxes where I live asking for someone to drive a senior citizen to the eye doctor and I will pay for the gas. I wouldn't have this problem if I still lived in California but the rural area I live in here in AZ has no assistance for senior citizens. Blessings to all of you.

How are you doing today OP? Are you able to drive or do you have to rest and take care for about one week?

I am so sorry to read this Lindsays grandma..........I don't understand what your family does not help you? It is not fair....... I hope they will help you when you need to go in..........I know my son won't be around to ever help me..........my granddad pushed me to be pregnant because he said I would be alone forever and child would be good for me and I would have someone I could count on.........NOT..........I guess because I was so good to them they thought the same would happen to me........NOT...........I would help you anyway I could if I was close to you but that does not help your situation. Please keep me posted Lindsays Grandma......hugs and love to you.

Are you all alone in AZ? Have you asked your friends and/or church folks for a ride to your doc? Perhaps local community services and/or social services will help you out. Every phone book lists the various community services phone numbers. I believe there could be senior citizens listings, too. Otherwise, take a cab to the doctor. Feeling sorry for you right now.......{#emotions_dlg.unsure}

I didn't know this thread was still active or I would have responded sooner.

Shorty: Re: the patch. It's a good idea for those who need to wear it until the doctor tells them to remove it. In my case, since he told me I have deep-set eyes (who knew????) he wanted me to remove it at dinnertime and keep it off and again start putting the drops in, even before I saw him the next day. Then, he told us a story of another patient who didn't listen to him and kept the patch on and his eyes got so dry, he had to go back for another kind of procedure and it got very involved. I believe the patcn is for protection, so you don't touch your eye and nothing gets in it. I can't believe a doctor would let an 89 y/o woman go home without any protection on her eye. Especially for sleeping...... Oh well.................Wink

Lindsay: Don't they have a STS (SpecialTransportationServices) service in your area??? I'll bet your doctor's office would know about this... Here in Florida, we see those little white cars (or vans) all the time. They drop people off at the doctor and then pick them up. I even see elderly people in my doctor's office and wonder how they got there - now I know. They are waiting for their ride. Lots of people live alone (not just the elderly) and need rides to doctors, shopping, etc.... Please call your doctor's office and inquire.{#emotions_dlg.sad}

RRR: Yes, I am doing fine. Thanks so much for asking... I drove yesterday (4th day) with no problem, although my husband was a little hesitant, it was only two blocks away to get my hair cut. He wanted to drop me off and pick me up but I could see clear as a bell....Smile..

Romary: I agree whole-heartedly. LindsaysG'ma needs to get this done asap. It makes all the difference. I also bought "drugstore" glasses yesterday and what a difference. I can read with no problem and the computer screen is nice and bright and the letters are so clear. I'm not squinting anymore like I was with my "computer glasses"..... My husband said that maybe that's all I needed all along was these cheap glasses... When I think of all the thousands of dollars we spent on glasses (progressive/transition) I could just fall out.... Oh well, in the drawer they go, along with all the others to be donated.....Smile

I am getting my other eye done next Monday, so on Friday, I will start putting the drops in that eye for three days. I am medically cleared, so all that will be done, will be the phone calls for three days from every department. The doctor, surgery center, insurance, etc.... with all the instructions on what to do and what not to do, etc....... I can't wait.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}
