Yes, it's safe. Cook your eggs well and wash your hands after handling the raw egg and shell pieces. You could also use sanitizer on your hands after handling and use an antimicrobial on your counter when you clean. The bowl can be cleaned with dish soap and a little bleach if you're concerned. Same with the kitchen sink. The US poultry industry is very careful about letting the birds get infected. They have been keeping their birds indoors and have been monitoring their birds.

Millions of fowl were euthanized to stop the spread of bird flu. Entire farms lost all of their birds. Trying to stop the spread has affected the supply.
