So sorry to hear of Bill Withers' death from heart complications.  Wonderful, irreplaceable singer-songwriter.  Most people love "Lean on Me";  I also love "Ain't No Sunshine":

Thank you, sir, for your music and sharing your gift. My daughter's generation loved him, too. May he feel no pain and only joy.

I was thinking the other day that we will sadly hear more and more about those we "know" both from fame and friends who have died from this awful thing.

I didn't even know he was still alive! I loved his songs, esp Ain't No Sunshine. This past winter I went to a concert of college students in the area and a group of students performed that song, which pleasantly surprised me since it's a song from my generation. The lead singer, an extremely talented African American student, sounded exactly like Withers when he sang the song, so much so that if I closed my eyes I couldn't tell the difference. I praised him profusely during the afterwards refreshment time and told him he "did justice" to Bill Withers. He took that as I intended it --- high praise.

For all he contributed to the music world, I am thankful.  May he be at peace with God.

He must have been a fabulous young talent, @Pearlee , to have that rich, haunting vocal ability to evoke echoes of Bill Withers!  I'm sure he was very complimented.
