Got a call today from Chase Credit cards. No message was left! Called their customer service number questioning why they would call me and, particularly not leave a message.
The customer service rep told me that this is a new scam going on now. The customer service lines are incoming only. Scammers have been able to identify themselves with the credit card company name and customer service number. So don't answer. If a credit card company calls you it will not be on their customer service number He told me there's an influx of scams this time of year and this is just one of the newest.
Aside: I also notified my local PD so they could make townspeople aware on TV. PD said also to never, ever, answer those scam calls 'cause sometimes you can get a bogus phone charge - like from some foreign country - just by answering!
Don't know if any of you have experienced this, but just wanted to mention it in case it happens to you.
P.S. He checked my account and I only use this card for grocery shopping (don't like to carry cash) and that's all that's on there!![]()

Odd calls have been picking up in number this past month. Today I've had FOUR and it isn't dinner time yet. I know one is for hearing aids - called so often I put the tele number in Google. Lots of info posted. Thanks for posting your experience.

I don't think it's new scam at all, I think it's an old scam and no savvy person would have bothered to call the number back. By what stretch of the imagination would a bank or credit card company call some and not leave a "please call XXX-XXX-XXXX". If they called, it would be because they had something vital to say so they would want a return phone call. They'd leave leave an extension number to specific person too. The officer is correct, this very very old type of scam often results in bogus foreign long distance calls. I think people have to stop being so frightened just because a caller says "bank" or "credit card company" and just stop, breathe and think.

Some time ago I got a legitimate voicemail message from a credit card about fraud. This was before email and texts. A few weeks ago, I got a text from Discover Card about a possible fraudulent charge (it was).
I always contact the company at the Customer Service number on the credit card. I never use phone numbers in a message and I never click on any links.

I've been getting called from Chase for years about lowering my interest rate. One time I clicked to talk to the rep. I said sure, I'll have a lower interest rate. The fellow started asking for some information. I said you have my information and he hung up on me. I blocked the number, but they must have many. I just ignore it.

My dad received a call from a man saying he was my son (called himself by the correct name) the other day. He was supposedly in jail in another state and asked for bail money. My son was alive and well at work.
The next day I received a call saying there is a problem with my social security number. I blocked that number.
I also had a call about a credit card (not Chase). I hung up and blocked the number.
There are a ton of scams going on. NEVER give personal information to someone who calls you.
