Ah. Another anti-ACA rant from the OP not so cleverly disguised as a discussion about health insurance premiums.   Very timely as this is the time of year which is for most companies is the enrollment period.

I have BCBS through my retirement health plan and my premium went up less than $10.

Just got my renewal letter from BCBS per healthcare.gov.  My premium is now 300.00 a month.  The new premium starting Jan 1, 2016 will be 424.44!!  That is over a 40% increase!!  When I had private insurance 2 years ago the premiums NEVER went up that much. So much for "affordable" healthcare and you can keep your hospital and your Dr. - I will be losing both.

Oh please. ALL insurance is going up and so are prescription drugs and prescription drug coverage. This wouldn't be happening if certain people on the committee weren't bowing to the drug and insurance lobbies. What was originally the concept was ignored in hopes that it would all fail. Like Medicare, hopefully, the plan will be tweeked and changed to single payer among other things.

Sorry but since all this went into effect, my premiums (through employer) skyrocketed every year and coverage is less. For our prescriptions, in 2016, we will now be paying 20% of any brand labeled drug with no maximum when before we paid a $10 copay for brand names, $5 copay for generic. That is a huge jump, especially considering a  $4000+ monthly drug my husband takes that does not have a generic brand yet. So I am sorry if I'm not too sympathetic.

Same here. Higher premiums, less and less coverage. Not to mention that smaller businesses are changing plans about every 6 months to try to find coverage for their employees that they can afford. A big joke and epic fail!!  But some refuse to acknowledge that nothing in life is free. Won't even try to win that battle.

Health coverage provided by an Employer is about the contract made with the Insurance carrier.   The reps from various companies visit the H.R.dept. and peddle their products.  the Employer is looking at price, coverage amount, what the company lays out and what premiums the employees have to pay per annum.

I 've never known a year or two  where the premiums did not rise.  It's a perennial argument.

Personally, I'm happy the new law went into affect.  I have two daughters in college and they both have coverage.  The $218,00 my husband pays per week would be paid if it were all four or just the two of us

Please don't speak for all of us. Not all of our premiums went up every year and certainly never, ever this much. Of course those who now benefit from the OC are happy with it. For most of the rest of us, it has been a big huge hit to our wallets.
