When I was growing up, my mom would never order Avon products. (She was devoted to Merle Norman.) Seeing the catalogs everywhere, I desperately wanted her to order things for both of us. Getting my hands on one of their lipstick samples was a great joy! (I'm talking about the tiny white tube, not the little round dot in the plastic square.)

This thread made me think of another blast from my past: Sarah Coventry jewelry. Now that...my mom bought.

I grew up all through the '70's on Avon, my Mom was either selling it at different times and always buying when she was not selling.  Gifts to all my teachers through elementary were Avon products.  Right now all I have is the Night Magic perfumed skin softening scent on my desk at work.  I do not use it very often but I did just last week.  Never have I tried the clothes or shoes just fragrance, makeup, and bath products.  It was nice when a woman in my church started selling it and I got back into for a few years.  She started with some Kitchen line after a few years so now it has been awhile since I ordered.  Need to look online.  Skin so Soft really does help with protection from mosquito bites.

@beckyb1012  I was just trying to think of the name of their product that was used for mosquito bites.   LOL

I remember having some of that, too.

I still buy Avon after some 40 years but am very disappointed in their current CEO's.  They have upped the pricing tremdously, invaded the Outlet brochure and completely control their inventory so reps can't back order easily.

Other than that they change their bottles frequently to make it seem like it's a new product.  Only the prices change.  I found that they introduce the new product at full price but then start bringing down the price as the books go on like a Chinese auction?  I'm not remembering the term.

Have fun trying to find products in their brochures for the older woman.  It seems it's all geared for the young woman of today.  It's very disappointing but I keep hoping they change the CEO soon who can remember what the old Avon company was like.

I still like some of their products and have quite a few to use up, but I've decided to stop buying from them.  My mother and I have bought a lot of stuff from them over the years, but my experience as a rep soured me on Avon.

I just need to find a replacement for a few of the items I like and have used for years and I should be okay not ordering from them again.

To answer your questions about the clothes and shoes and returns...

Yes, I've bought clothing from them.  The quality is not the greatest, IMO.  I think you can find much nicer items in stores.  It's not like the items are total garbage, it's just that they generally don't look very high quality, and many of the items are priced too high for what they are.

If you order straight from a rep rather than online, returns should be easy and are free.  Even if it's a lipstick color you don't like or something like that.  Not sure what the returns are like when you order online; I've never returned anything I ordered from them through the customer website.

This was my first "toy" after I gave up playing with toys.  The hours I spent with my Mom's samples.

You can avoid the representative all together, by just going to Avon dot com.

OMG if I had that as a little girl....I would've been in HEAVEN. I've loved makeup and jewelry since I can remember.

A very good friend of mine has sold Avon for 50 years.  She still does, but is slowly pulling back. Her complexion is beautiful.

I like their tinted moisturizer. My SIL (in Canada) uses the ANEW line and her complexion is amazing.

I order a few times a year.

I used to like the fragrance Odyssey!!

I've bought a lot from Avon when my co-worker was here and sold it. I love their foot care line, and would always buy some when it was on sale. I've also bought several dresses and they're very nice. Last Christmas for my "birthday club," I purchased their full-size hand cream that was discounted cheap for their stocking stuffer. I also like some of their skin care cleansers. I have sensitive combination skin and they offer quite a bit to choose from.
