I was in what was called "risk insurance group". Because my mother didn't drive, they tossed me into this group. Each insurance company had to take X number from this group, which were considered high risk.
I had, still have never had an accident, but I was not 25 nor was I married. So! This was in 1955 and I was paying $250 every 3 months for a $1,000 deductible liability policy. In today's $$$? It was either that, or I could not get insurance to drive, no choice.
They even prevented me from getting a bigger motor in my brand new 1960 Thunderbird, or my insurance would almost double. Their view: bigger motor/drive faster, I guess. I paid that for 9 years, until I turned 25. It was Risk insurance, or NO insurance for me.
The magic age of 25? My insurance went down to $150 a year/full coverage on my brand new cars, and $25 deductible on everything. Driving my old and brand new cars cost me close to 2/3 of my income until I turned 25.

Cars are getting more and more high tech and that comes with higher repair costs. Rates will continue to up no matter where you live.

Although they do send me a check twice a year for about 30 bucks as a "payback" for having no claims.
Way too high!!!! Check out insurance agents on-line - they'll check out cheaper insurance companies who have a top rating. Insurance companies keep raising the rates each year because they know most people will pay it.

I also suggest raising the deductible which will lower the premiums.

I took the advice to talk to my insur agent and did this week. He did a reassment on my insurance since I have auto and renters both with him. I did tell him I didnt want to leave for a different agent etc.
The good news he called to tell me today - that he put me with a different insurance company within their company!
My auto will now be $200 less per year than it was and renters will be $20 less. I am super happy about this!
Wasnt concerned about the renters, as it was not that much and all of this is a huge happy surprise.
