New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will require certain out-of-state travelers entering their states to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival.

At the moment, that applies to nine states, including Florida, Texas and Washington State, New York’s governor said.

These are the states with the highest positivity rates

Florida had 5,000 new cases since yesterday.

How will they enforce that?

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

@lianne  I think they are nuts to allow any travelers from hotspots in anywhere.

Forget quarantine; is anyone actually enforcing that? Because I have heard of people just ignoring it and saying they were told to quarantine but that was all there was to it. And hotspot states have mostly people who ignore suggestions. That is how they got to be hotspots.

They've worked so hard in getting their numbers down. This is a smart move on their part.

Watch for Florida’s numbers to go down - the governor isn’t happy so he has changed how we count.

I can't imagine how it would be at all possible to monitor that.  How can they possibly police those who should be quarantined?  How do they identify those who should quarantined?

From the NYTimes:

More than 35,000 new coronavirus cases were identified across the United States on Tuesday, according to a New York Times database, the highest single-day total since late April and the third-highest total of any day of the pandemic.

As the United States continues to reopen its economy, case numbers are rising in more than 20 states, mostly in the South and West. Florida on Wednesday reported a new daily high of 5,508 cases. Texas reported more than 5,000 cases on Tuesday, its largest single-day total yet. Arizona added more than 3,600 cases, also a record. And in Washington State, where case numbers are again trending upward, the governor said residents would have to start wearing masks in public.

@lianne And I will add my state of AZ- stay away this winter, we don't need you, in fact I am not too sure you were ever wanted here, all you do is mess up traffic and cause waiting times in restaurants- just stay in your states and deal with your winters

@arizona babe    And the same to you.  We next door in NM don't need all of you infected virus cases.  We've worn masks and worked hard to keep our cases down.
