What an afternoon.

The schools in my county (2nd largest school system in the state) are closed starting Monday, until further notice.

Several other counties, same.  Same with state university system.

My sister, who worked from home this week, was advised today to work from home for at least another 2 weeks.  I'm thankful for that as she's had a rough go of it health wise since just before Christmas.

Like tons of other cities and states, activities being cancelled.

Georgia reported our first death from the virus today, in my city.

The NASCAR race in Atlanta this weekend will be held with no spectators.

Someone on a neighborhood Facebook page just posted a pictire from the grocery store I go to. The toilet paper/paper towel aisle was 100% empty.

@gidgetgh Safety first...they are taking actions that might save lives.  This is a good thing.  Hope your sister is able to fully recover during this hiatus.

And our next door neighbor's wife just went to rehab on Tuesday evening, after her 2nd hip surgery in 3 weeks.

Her husband visited her this morning, came home briefly to get her phone charger and while he was home, the rehab place called and said no more visitors for anyone, effective immediately.  They told him to come to the front door and knock and they'd take the phone charger to her.

@phoenixbrd - thanks. She's been back at work for awhile, but worked from home this week because they just got a new puppy last weekend and she wanted to be home to get it acclimated.

I'm thankful they told her to keep working from home.

We are seeing the same.  No visitors or volunteers.  We must protect the vulnerable.

@gidgetgh Your neighbor's wife is being protected.  Hopefully, hubby understands that this action is making his wife's health a major priority.  This rehab is doing exactly what they should be.  You might want to reassure him and express the positive results of this action.  I hope she has a speedy recovery and home soon.

I understand. I learned last night, that I could no longer visit my mom in assisted living until further notice.  This is the new normal

North Georgia homes just shut down the visiting hours too.  My family ran up for their last hurrah before the quarantine at midnight.

My sister just changed her flight to come home tomorrow too because she's getting wind of LAX possibly closing.

This is such a good idea. We have a situation with a nursing home in New Orleans with four cases. Patient zero was diagnosed about two days ago, then two more yesterday.  Today a fourth case was announced. (Edited to say there are now nine.) They are of course cooperating fully with health authorities. I feel so bad for families who have loved ones in danger.
