Associations, What Comes To Mind

It's foggy this morning and I thought of Carl Sandburg. The other day when I was making tea, I found myself singing, I'm a little teapot, short and stout...

Do you experience the same sort of associations?

Re: Associations, What Comes To Mind

When I feel sad, afraid, down, what comes to mind are verses from the old songs I learned at church in my youth.  I can always remember at least parts of so many of them and they are such a comforting and uplifting thing!

What a nice topic!

As soon as I read Carl Sandburg, it brought me back to being in grade school in Chicago.

That happens to me too. Something, a scent, a name, a song and it takes me back to another time and place.

Although it makes me sad, whenever I hear or play Elton Johnโ€™s song โ€œSacrificeโ€ I think of my mom. She loved that songโ€ฆ.and so do I

I avoid the Estรฉe Lauder perfume counter because one  scent, Beautiful, was my favorite Aunt's favorite scent.  If I smell it, I would have the tears coming.

๐Ÿ  Whenever I make homemade sauce and meatballs, which is quite frequently in this household, I can't help but think of my dear, sweet Italian Mom. Every Sunday morning I watched and learned as she cooked her "Sunday Sauce" until I almost got it right. The missing ingredient was my Mom's love.

I was so very blessed to have her until she quietly passed away in her sleep just before her 96th birthday.

๐ŸŒน Thanks, Mom, for the wonderful Memories.

Associations don't always make sense, but it's interesting to see where our thoughts go.

For example, when I read this thread topic in Community Chat, the first thing I thought of was that wonderful song WINDY by The Association.

I have no idea why that would come to mind.

Carl Sandburg is the name of one of the middle schools in the town I live in.
