I don't feel anger for someone killing themselves.  I don't know why, but I don't.

I would be horrified if I-- or someone I loved dearly would be the ones to find them though.

I only feel anger for those who feel they can kill somebody else.

@SeaMaiden @It's not usually the case for Major Depressive Disorder, but it is often the case for Bipolr 1 Disorder, that a person can experience an irresistible compulsion to act on a suicidal impulse. (The suicides with MDD are often less compulsive.) I watched this happen to a relative of ours. The person did not want to die and called to get family to come over and physically prevent him from acting on the impulse. Family toook him in to be hospitalized. He had never had a depressive episode before this and had only experienced manic episodes. He has not had a second depressive episode since. He did not have a choice. He was experiencing a compulsion.
I found this eye opening to watch.

I have the same disorder Naomi had, Major Depressive Disorder, Severe, but in my case I take an anti depressant that works. I was not suicidal before the medicine worked and I did not experience any compulsions.

Naomi suffered with MDD, Severe, without the benefit of a working medication for years. She had tried many, many solutions and worked with many specialists. It's the most unrelenting torment. I think she could no longer take the degree of torment she was experiencing. She had asked Ashley to stay with her but Ashley had to briefly walk away. That's when it happened. This leads me to believe that Naimi experienced a compulsion to act. She had been trying to stop it by asking Ashley to stay with her. She had reached the limit. I don't think she was selfish at all. She lived in torture. May she rest  In  peace.

@Mindy D  You can't take this leap. We have no idea what Naomi Judd's diagnosis was. She may have had other co-morbidities. Ashley did not cause this, and she could not have stopped it. Unless Naomi told her what she was going to do and asked for her intervention. We know that did not happen, so we will never know what was going through Naomi's mind before this tragic outcome.

@manny2 @We do know what her diagnosis was. She publicly stated it and she wrote about it in her book. She have Major Depressive Disorder, Severe that did not respond to any treatment. She also had Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Attack. I have all three disorders but mine respond to medication. I never meant that Ashley could have stopped Naomi. I just mentioned that it seemed to happen despite Naomi wanting Ashley there, maybe to help herself guard against it. I agree with you that we can't really know what was going through her mind. I'm just taking what she said to Ashley and interpreting it. I can't be certain about it.

@Mindy D I meant no ill will answering your post. I just wanted to clarify that one point that could be misunderstood. I appreciate your insight into mental illness. It is a different journey for each person. There are many nuances.

Naomi Judd was not rational at that moment. If she could have hung on a few seconds maybe she would have been. We know that was not the case, and that is so sad.

I can tell Ashley has had therapy, because she talked about separating the illness from the person. That will help her and her family to heal.

Obviously Naomi used lethal means or she wouldn't be dead. The info would've come out eventually. Not sure why this called for a Diane Sawyer interview.

My niece is a friend of a person who sang at her funeral, and it was known then that she shot herself. Her daughter said in the interview it was a weapon. This is tragic no matter how it was done. I'm not a fan of country music but did know about her and her girls. This is sad on all levels. That someone is so out of it, that they can do this , is a shame.

@goldensrbest This was a heartwrenching interview that Ashley gave.  My heart ached for her especially being THE ONE to discover rhe tragic demise of her mother.

Ashley wrote a telling book saying her childhood & upbringing was not positive due to Naomi's choices.

Wynonna had a difficult time growing-up.
She had a different bio father that Naomi would not even omit she owned the fact.
Ashley said she would reveal that fact and would name the bio father if Naomi would not do so.

Both daughters seemed to live under a lot of CONTROL, with their mother, in many areas of their life....read their accounts and review their interviews.

FINAL THOUGHTS: leave a legacy of trauma and a permanent CONTROL.
And, do so right before a joint award with Naomi & Wynonna, to cancel the new tour, to select this self-murder with inviting Ashley into the house---- and as a final punishment all this near Mother's Day.
Naomi had all this planned-out. JMHO
Too many events and so many reasons.

I second that, Whoa @QVCalm.
Control,
Self-murder,
Punishment,
Planned???
I hope you don’t judge everyone with disease as viciously as you do those with mental health disease.
I feel sorry that you may have been raised to believe what it is you are espousing so unfeelingly and cold here.
Here’s to hoping you never have to experience personally what this family and so many others do every day.

I was appalled when I read that Naomi killed herself the day before the Judds induction.

Who is the real victim(s) here? The question must be asked.

If nothing else, this shows how dangerous it is to live your life with a victim mentality, both for you and your loved ones.

God bless Wynonna, she's tough as a pine knot.

Just horrible. SHE LIVED WITH DEPRESSION.
