Thanks so much for posting the link. Strange the OP didn't if it was so interesting.
This statement was surprising to me...
"QVC’s parent company, Liberty Interactive, owns a minority stake in HSN."
Also, this comment had me cracking up!
"Never argue with a fool. Onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."

I thought it sounded like something they would say at an employee pep rally or a meeting of the marketing department LOL! Do you have any idea what "fast-fashion apparel" means?

@ladyroxanne wrote:very interesting article. maybe fast fashion is trendy?? it's here today and gone tomorrow.
This is similar to what I was thinking, but don't they already have that niche down pat?

@MacDUFF possibly they're talking about trendy clothing (which based on other places i shop is not all that trendy, but getting there) and offering it only once or twice in inventory and then it's gone, gone, gone and not coming back. zulily, hautelook and those places offer once until they sell out, but never re-stock. what do you think?

I think what you say is probably close to what it means...like flash fashion? Limited quantities, get it while you can, cause a buzz, make a bundle, move on. I guess we'll find out!

I binged "fast fashion"... from wiki (always taken with a grain of salt)...
"Fast fashion is a contemporary term used by fashion retailers to express that designs move from catwalk quickly in order to capture current fashion trends. Fast fashion clothing collections are based on the most recent fashion trends presented at Fashion Week in both the spring and the autumn of every year. Emphasis is on optimizing certain aspects of the supply chain in order for these trends to be designed and manufactured quickly and inexpensively to allow the mainstream consumer to buy current clothing styles at a lower price. This philosophy of quick manufacturing at an affordable price is used in large retailers such as H&M, Zara, Peacocks, and Topshop....Fast fashion has also become associated with disposable fashion because it has delivered designer product to a mass market at relatively low prices....Fast fashion has also come under criticism for contributing to poor working conditions in developing countries...."
To me, this means cheap, shoddy workmanship. I'm thinking that, even as bad as some of us think it is now, we haven't even begun to see a decline in quality and let's not even think about sizing inconsistancies getting worse!!

@MacDUFF thanks for the follow up and yes, more inconsistent sizing and shoddy workmanship if that's what they're talking about. not good for us at
any rate. that doesn't mean we'll pay less. thinking about those little kids in china. terrible!!

@MacDUFF My take would be 'on trend' and 'younger' made (and theoretcially sold) cheaply. Essentially, 'throw away' clothes, pretty much intended to be worn for a season...
Doesn't sound like anything their current demographic would find interesting and, of course, it remains to be seen how their shipping policies will 'play' with a younger generation used to mall shopping and free shipping...

H&M was exactly what I pictured, @MacDUFF...
