@Diva on The Q I always laugh at the 'holiday letters' people send at the end of the year. There was a very funny episode on 'Everyone Loves Raymond' about just this!

Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

I also have a thing about shaking hands.  It's not across the board, as I will shake if somebody extends.  But it comes with a great deal of trepidation.  Some men seem to have some kind of macho thing about it and will shake your hand so hard that it really, REALLY hurts!

One time a guy squeezed my hand so hard I nearly fell out.  The pain was excruciating.   Granted, I have had arthritis since I was 39 years old so that's probably a BIG part of it.  But even if that weren't the case, it was way too hard and I would not have thought it would take an Einstein to know that.

@chickenbutt  some years ago, I stopped shaking hands, even at the rite of peace, in church. It's optional ,so I just stopped doing it. It is germy ,and you get bone crushers on occasion. I don't snub people I, wish them peace, I just don't shake
