Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

Like others have mentioned, I also don't enjoy being with people who are trying to convert me to either their religion or political

leanings.  I am an adult, now for many decades, and I have views.

Yes, I feel people change, evolve and learn, but it's a personal journey for a variety of reasons, experiences.

There are many people I like with different world views, religious beliefs, etc.  Just have respect enough to not lecture or push.

Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

Yes, those mall employees pushing their products are insane. I don't go to the mall often. I do have one grocery store cashier that is Chatty Cathy & avoid her as much as I can. I will even go into a long line so she doesn't check me out. I know they must be told to be friendly but she is too much. We have a beautiful big grocery store that even sells clothes, housewares & so much more after walking that I really don't want Chatty Cathy with her personal issues on top of it.

Feeling silly, but I'd learn a new phrase with an accent that says, I don't comprehend what you are saying and walk away.

Not in the suburbs but in DC anyway on the street - lunchtime is a maze to avoid people who work for various charities, usually college-age people, with literature, etc.  They want you to sign up to a monthly commitment (usually $30/month) to their cause.  Learn from me:  best to put your earbuds in, sunglasses on, and walk fast.

Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

I guess there's almost always someone we know who reminds me of 'Cliff' in 'Cheers'.

I tend to not say anything at all, just to avoid an hour-long explanation/reply.  Usually negative, btw.

And then, who knows.  Could be that their information is totally bogus.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

What slightly 'irks me' are seniors who always open their doors to various solicitors.

Even after I warned/suggested that some could be scam artists.

Case in point:  People who pose as our legitimate gas and electric company.  Saying that an energy bill will be reduced to $35 a month if they sign up.

'Seems to me' that the real legitimate power company would send a form directly to it's customers via mail.  Not door-to-door.

They ask the senior (and possibly others) to go find their latest bill, etc.

And they do exactly that.

Who knows what can possibly happen.

And who are these people, anyway?

Well, it's good to vent, since I'm already here on this thread.........

[ Edited ]

Well, MD's midterm primary is at the end of June, so I'm deluged w/campaigning at the moment ... 1/2 my mail goes straight into the recycling bin (after I've used the "guard your id" roller on it, of course).

Robocallers (changed my answering machine message to say it's a nonpublished number enrolled on the FTC DNC list and you've just broken the law)

Neighbor who is a Debbie Downer, esp when she doesn't have her facts straight

Elderly woman at the neighborhood pool who always has to one-up everybody

Panhandlers standing on medians (against the law, b/c creates traffic hazard)

Salvation Army in front of Giant at Xmas time
