Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

@VaBelle35

Sorry your Giant was not responsive to your perfectly legitimate request.  The Giants here PA and NJ never have their doorways blocked.

Never saw cookie sales....but if they did permit them, they would be at the end of the overhang so shoppers wouldn’t be inconvenienced.

Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

I don’t ever seem to run into anyone so there really isn’t anyone I try to avoid. The city I live in has 60,000 people in it so while I live in just a little pocket of it obviously it’s not really a “run into people” kind of place. I may see someone every so often in the grocery store, but it’s never been someone I’d prefer to avoid.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

Another group I try to avoid are the DirecTV people at Walmart who try to sell you their service every time you walk by them.  I actually have DirecTV, and you think that by me saying I already have the service that they would say "thank you," and leave me alone.  However, they started accusing me of lying to them just so they would leave me alone.

One day, I happened to be shopping there with my friend.  As we approached the electronics and TV department where the DirecTV sales people are usually perched, I told my friend to take out her phone and start recording.  We walked by them, a man said, "Excuse me," and I immediately said "I already have DirecTV."  "Oh, c'mon.  You're just saying that," he replied.  "Really, (expletive)?  (I pull out my iPhone and point to the DirecTV app installed on it.)  Why would I have this DirecTV app installed on my phone if I didn't have the service," I replied.  "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he repeated and pleaded over and over.  "The next time someone tells you they are one of your customers, you should probably believe them instead of calling them a liar, especially when they are taking a video of you," I said.

I posted the video to DirecTV's Facebook page.  It was taken down, and I received an email with an apology and stating that I would be receiving 6 months free service.  I never saw that guy again.

Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

Oh yes, there is a former co- worker, who delights in reciting all of her ailments. She will also tell you that she will die soon ( she has been dying for years ) and has nothing good to say about anyone . I have actually gone to another part of a store to avoid her. Cowardly ? Yes indeed, but talking to her is such a downer that I just can't.

Yes, a mother and daughter that I know. The mother talks...

Yes, a mother and daughter that I know. The mother talks super slow and can't accept no for an answer. She is always telling me I HAVE to attend this concert or that play or that activity at the library. The daughter lives with her and is just plain lazy and obnoxious. I definitely try to avoid them.

Re: Are there people you try to avoid?

Oh yes. My husband’s niece is filled with hate toward her father’s, my husband’s, side of the family. She inherited this hatred from her mother, who resented her inlaw’s buying her wedding gown a zillion years ago. My sister-in-law resented the fact that she could not afford a beautiful gown and that her inlaws bought her one. That single event caused an irreparable rift in my husband’s family. It was a tragic event.

So many of these replies relate to being approached in stores/malls. I must come across as such a b*tch in person - or completely hard of hearing!! -  because I ignore them and keep walking!  I'm the same way with telemarketers, I jsut hang up the phone. It's been grilled into our heads to be 'nice'- and what others think of us matters. It really doesn't! Woman Happy
