We just left the eye doctor office and headed towards Olive Garden for lunch. Then we're going to ride the ferris wheel at the Carnival in the mall parking lot 😊

@monicakm  that sounds like so much fun, Monicakm! You got to see the eclipse, you're going to the Olive Garden for a delicious lunch and you'll go onto the ferris wheel Smiley HappyHeart

Not understanding your reference to birds' speed.  See post # 76.

Re: Are You Seeing the Eclipse?

We live just slightly north east of Pittsburgh (97%).  Kept hoping the skies would clear but due to cloudy conditions didn't have views we had hoped.  Did get to see some of the eclipse.  It darkened here like pre thunderstorm, but not very dark.

Re: Are You Seeing the Eclipse?

I got home in plenty of time to see it, and so did DH. He put chairs in the backyard. We stayed inside until it started; we could see through the roof of our sunroom.

We went out back and watched the beginning. It was cold! We say about 1/4 before the clouds came in, then waited for them to pass.

I told DH it was like being at the beach. We cheered when the clouds uncovered the sun! I didn't see my next door neighbors, but they were watching. They were probably around the side of the house. I could hear various distant voices.

The sun was almost covered, but the clouds were heavy and I was cold. I came in with my glasses and settled in a comfortable chair looking through the roof. And then I fell asleep! It's been a busy two days.

DH must have come in after me. He didn't stay outside either. It did get dark. I missed that part. I woke up in time to see the moon almost leave on the other side.

There was an eclipse party in a parking lot near us. DH drove by there and said not much was going on yet. But it wasn't supposed to start for an hour. Part of me wanted to go, but I just really wanted to relax and watch at home.

So I saw some of it. It started to rain, and I came inside.  Smiley Happy

I watched too IRL and on tv (ABC) as well!

Here is a pic at the darkest time...not sure you can tell anything by it!

It got dark enough in Northeast Texas for street lights to come on. You would have had to drive with your lights on. But it wasn't Pitch Black.

Do you like living that close to the airport? I think I would like it just because my dad was a pilot in the Army and Commercial so I had a Sentimental reason for thinking I'd like to live that close to the airport. I remember living in Fort Knox and laying in the grass listening to the planes flying overhead.

I would have liked to have been on a plane at that time. I bet we can find some images online by doing a Google search of that.
