There was only ever a very brief period of time, in my state, when restaurants were closed and no one ate in them. They were reopened, with safety precautions and restrictions, and I went back.
I've consistently eaten out at least once a week throughout the pandemic, outdoors when possible, inside when not.

Three friends and I are planning dinner out in the next week or so. Our last planned dinner got cancelled (March 2020) because the state went on lockdown the day we were to meet.
That said DH and I used to love to go out to eat but years ago I just didn't enjoy it like I used to. I went because he enjoyed it.
Other than meeting these friends occasionally I don't care to eat out. Covid has nothing to do with it.
I am fully vaccinated so I am not too worried. I never let stuff sit for days outside, sanitized my mail, never changed my clothes after going out etc. I did the basics, hand washing and masks.
I still wear a mask where required.

@AuntG Well, hopefully you've applied. I hope you get the position.

Yes, and have been since they lifted restrictions for my state. I have always been somewhat of a "germ awareness" person so I continue to do what I have always done.

I have no problem with eating in restaurants. I got vaccinated as soon as I was eligible so I could feel safe enjoying socializing with my friends. We love visiting over lunch, shopping, etc. Can't live in fear forever, it's not healthy. I get a flu shot every year for the same reason. I know it's not 100% but what is?

At this time of year, we mostly eat outdoors so we can bring our dog if it isn't very hot. However, we have no problem eating indoors which we will be this coming Sat. For us, we couldn't wait for things to normalize again. Mostly everyone I know feels that way. Tired of being shut in, wearing dang masks, etc. We just want no more of that "jailed in feeling" & not being able to decide for ourselves.
As usual, everyone makes their own decisions what's best for them.

@sceniccoast Much too hot to eat outside now in many parts of the country. We treat summer like Minnesotans treat January. Stay inside and avoid heat exhaustion.

I didn't realize the heat in NM got that high. I assumed it was a dryer part of the country with the mountains. We had a wonderful, low 70s, no humidity today (first time in a week of 80s-90s & that awful "swampy" humidity) so we took advantage of it & brought our dog, Connie, & my Mom for a ride & ate outside. Of course, hubby had to buy his precious Connie a doggy sundae!

have been eating in restaurants for at least the past 7 months or more. we continued to get takeout from our favorite places even if we could not eat in during the early days of covid.
just got back tonight from trivia, cocktails, and dinner. it is a weekly thing. ut was pretty busy tonight actually. may of the restaurants i go to are back to normal with customers, but not back to normal with employees.
i dont mind eating by myself or in a group. i have always been that way. i can sit at a table by myself or sit at a bar by myself.....or be in a group.

even my 80 year old mother and her 80+ year old friends are now going out for their lunches and dinners again......last night they had a group of 30! i think most of them feel like they have been stuck inside long enough.
