Re: Are You Eating in Restaurants?

We've eaten out a few times but I didn't find it as enjoyable as in the past 🤷‍♀️ We've gone at off-hours.

I have made it a point over the years to occasionally go to a movie or to a restaurant by myself.  I've been frustrated by single friends who won't and it seems too limiting.

From reading this board pre-pandemic, I think many people already were germaphobes. That's why covid sent some people into a complete panic.

Re: Are You Eating in Restaurants?

I went to one of our favorite restaurants 2 weeks after my final vaccination. Waiters all had masks on so that was good. Usually service is very good as it’s family owned and has been around a long time. The waiter gave me a dessert wine instead of what I ordered, it was sunny and I held up the glass and it was dirty. Not like lipstick or finger prints but just streaked from the dish washer I guess. He handed me the menu and it was stained. This was very unusual for this restaurant. But, they are having a hard time hiring people as restaurant workers make more on enhanced unemployment benefits. They have excellent sauce and that didn’t change. They are so nice there and I didn’t want to get up and leave but I was really counting the days looking for symptoms so that experience wasn’t a good one. But, we have gone to other restaurants since that follow protocols, clean glasses etc. Most use iPads for orders which is just as bad so I use sanitizer after I use it or go wash my hands. The best I’ve seen was a menu written on a disposable paper plate. It’s very labor intensive but I liked it. I try to support our local restaurants as they’ve been hit hard in NJ. In the beginning I was anxious but I’m ok now. I still wear a mask upon entry to a restaurant or if I move from the table. Some restaurants still require that and some don’t but I will continue until it’s over.

Re: Are You Eating in Restaurants?

Why do most doctor offices still require masks for patients and staff? Answer: We are not risk free without a mask.

I am fully vaccinated but I carefully assess the risks that I take.

I have eaten indoors.

Always, we never stopped.  Except when the restaurants were closed.  But as soon as they opened up back we were there.  We will continue to go.

Re: Are You Eating in Restaurants?

@RainyDayGal   I don't think we ever stopped either.  For the longest time we had throw away menus so that didn't bother me. Our waiters all wore masks. Now the regular menus are back and our waiters aren't wearing masks.  I do use hand sanitizer before I eat.  We are pretty much back to normal in our area.

Yes, it feels good to be out again.  We did go out even when they had to limit people.  I can't live in fear on what can happen, heck I would never leave my house.
