Are You Driving?

[ Edited ]

When I've been on the Forums recently, I've seen as many as 1,530 online here at the same time. But only a small percent of those people are posting, and only a tiny percent start threads.

Your ideas, discoveries, and thoughts are valuable, and it would be wonderful if you would share them and enrich the Forums. We want to hear and learn from you. Do you have something interesting to share about a new Home product? Have you seen something in fashion that we'd love to see, too? Do you have a special recipe to share? Do you have a Q product that you love and recommend? Do you have an enlightening experience to share? Do you have a great book you'd like to tell us about? What about a beauty secret or some sports event?

I've read some complaints that the Forums are "dead" or "boring." That's such an easy fix with your contribution.

Maybe the Forums are like a tour bus. There are a few people who volunteer to do the driving (and create threads). Some passengers make comments about the route. And, some passengers look out the window and are there only for the ride. But, all the passengers have amazing thoughts and ideas. We just need more of them to volunteer and drive.

Will you volunteer to take the wheel?

I agree with what you're saying but for me, I've been piled on too many times. I now think twice about commenting or starting threads. If those doing the complaining have been part of the pile on, they have their own selves to blame.

Perhaps another angle that needs to be addressed is the maturity needed to agree to disagree, remain civil, give the benefit of the doubt, etc.

@Desert Lily   My turn to drive.  The day before Christmas Eve I had at least 3 great things happen to me.

I went out to lunch and was waiting for my bill.  The waitress came over and told me the family that just left had paid my bill and wished me a Merry Christmas.  I wasn't even aware of the family behind me, never saw them before.

That afternoon a friend that I had met many years ago thru my DH as they had gone to school together since first grade called and said she was stopping over for a few minutes to wish us Merry Christmas.  We all had been to lunch together and back to her house a couple weeks ago and she had the most beautiful vintage lamp which I exclaimed over.  Well she came bearing the same lamp for me.  Hers was green with roses and she found me a white one with roses (my favorite).  I was stunned at her generosity as this was a pretty expensive gift.  I then gave two of my living room lamps to my neighbor and moved another vintage lamp from the family room to my living room, so now all lamps in my living room are vintage which I love.

Then that evening I made a new friend.  DH had helped a friend of his with a remodel job for this couple.  They were so pleased they took us all out to dinner, gave me a gift of delicious candy and bought a new tool for DH.  The woman and I enjoyed each other's company and have plans to get together for lunch.  We went back to their house to play cards.

Quite a surprising and enjoyable day.  Does someone else have a great story to tell us here!

no I'm not driving but I don't agree that there are few people who start threads and few people who respond

I'm with you.  I've been called out and piled on so I try to refrain from posting.  Getting too hard and worrisome for me.

@KathyM23Great post!

@ThinkingOutLoud   @rms1954   This is a positive thread to encourage others to post and to start new threads. I believe that there are endless things to learn from each other and to share with each other. This site has been a place of support for many people. I'd like to see more people do their share of the "driving" so we can hear the magnificent things that are on their minds.

@KathyM23    You've had a run of great luck!  Better get to a casino immediately.

Yours was such a happy thread full of hope and optimism.  I hope lovely things continue for one who sounds like a lovely person.  I'm sure you deserve all the good things that have come to you.

@Desert Lily

I know this is rude but do you think people need to be told twice that this is a positive thread?   people are just giving their opinions
