The meaning is lovely but unfortunately no one will be thinking about the meaning of the name after next week.  So much better to have a nice name than a nice meaning. Oh well, their baby.

And who is to decide what a "nice name" is??

In this particular case, I think it's the baby's parents. Smiley Happy Whether anyone else likes the name or not is irrelevant.

@jonbon  I was expressing my opinion and from everything  I've read here, most people seem to be in agreement.

Re: Archie Means 'Truly Brave'

I have to say the name has already grown on me.

Funny, the more I say it in my head the more I like it.

I still don't care for the name but the meaning is very nice.  There are many other traditional names that have a nice meaning too.

I think the name Archie is traditional in England.

@QVCkitty1

I see from the article that it is currently 18th most popular in England.  Just as George and Charlotte have risen, so no doubt will Archie.

If this his story is correct (???) George’s nickname is Archie - wonder if they realized?

@jonbonApparently any poster here.

The baby will be who he is; identified by how he grows and what he will contribute as a man in this world.  The name will not change that fact.  At all.

All names have nice meanings, btw.

I like Harrison but Archie not so much.  It will be wonderful to see him growing up like Kate & Will's children.';
