Winged Beauty on Butterfly Bush

Mousie, What an accurate description of some of my days. That is one of the best videos I have seen in a long time. It rings so true. Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind, I am going to repost it on the Cafe thread, unless you'd rather do it. I'll wait to hear. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

red tailed hawk - Google Search

Winifred, You hit the ID of that hawk on the beak!! The above is another photo of the topside of the bird in flight. It is a beautiful bird for sure, but after watching what the owls bring back to their owlets, I am not really surprised by what any of the big prey birds or critters eat. The Barred Owl in Indiana had a baby bunny in the nest box and a Lady who posts on the Mellow Place thread here on Friends, had a baby kitten taken by an owl one night last week. I don't think I could take that. I know they have to eat, and I do feel for the babies who are hungry(non stop), but I sure would rather watch them eat salads than critters, even snakes.

I hope Mr. Stripes has shownup by now. BadStripes!! Hope he's ok. Good luck with the new computer. Hope it works great for you. They sure frustrate me. I just had to restart this thing, as the silly mouse wouldn't "copy image" on the right click menu. I thought I might be headed to the store to buy a new mouse.{#emotions_dlg.huh}

Sure. I posted it in Viewpoints as I thought it would reach more people. I almost posted it two other places, but thought I would be overdoing it, lol.

Marykay's tree peony ~~April 28th 2015~~

Hi Birding Friends, I took this photo of one of my tree peony blossoms. The plant is loaded with blooms like this, some in clusters of 4 or 5. I tried to get a good photo of the bumblebee, but he was too busy rolling around in the pollen to 'cooperate'. His hind legs were loaded with pollen. I took a lot of photos and will post one of a cluster of these blooms.

My tree peony!?? Marykay

Thanks, Birdmama. I wish I could post the scent from these beauties. Very rich and almost spicy. I am hoping my yellow tree peony has some blossoms too this year.

Many many years ago those red tailed hawks were abundant - then I did not see any for perhaps 30 years or so - maybe longer. They disappeared when all our woodpeckers, robins and other great birds disappeared. Then perhaps 4 years ago, they started showing up again - not a lot but quite noticeable. One even sat on my back yard fence. I have not worried about them and Stripes but you never know. Stripes is one BIG cat. But those hawks swope in and hit the back of the animal on the neck and that is all it takes as those birds are super powerful. By the way, Stripes agreed to sleep at home last night. Course he was ready to go outside at four when Conrad went out this morning.

Not looking forward to today - reason being the horrible heat - suppose to be about 95 and yesterday it was still 92 at dinnertime. This heat this time of year is excessive even for us. Really hard on my breathing and I am fighting an infection so probably will go to Urgent Care as oxygen will help me with my COPD. Should have gone days earlier but too many things happening here. Ahhhhhhh, so wish I had my peace and quiet back.

Have a good day everyone.

Hello Birding Friends - the Berry Eagles are branching these days and I won't be surprised if B4 takes off and fledges any day now.
