Puddles, How neat to be having the wrens building outside your window. Hope they have a successful nesting. You will be in Great Britain when those babies hatch though. Happy Birthday to the Queen. She's such a dignified Lady. I love that Royal Family. They have had some very hard times, but have rallied and done well. Love the two princes. Harry is so cool. Wish he'd find a nice young lady like Will did and settle down one of these days.

possummink, both mama & papa wren are hard at work now.

I posted a picture of the Queen on her birthday on the Café thread. Hard to believe she is 89! I should look so good.

All of England is hoping that Harry will settle down soon. He had two very serious girlfriends, but they couldn't handle the limelight. William was just lucky in that Kate loves it. I'm sure Harry's princess is out there somewhere.

Bucket of fresh lilacs

Hi Birding Friends, A quick note to let you know I am back in the beautiful state of Missouri. The flight originated in Tampa and there were only 37 of us passengers. That's my kind of flight, where there's room to relax instead of being crammed into the seats like sardines in a can. Cindy and the girls met me at the airport and we stopped to pick up some breakfast. I opened most of the packages that arrived here over the last week. The girls got their new clothes and Cindy got her goodies and treats for her dogs and cat. I forgot Jillians chinchilla, Clyde, so I will have to run by Petsmart and get Clyde somechilla treats.

We went out for lunch and a wonderful Margarita. After lunch, they dropped me back off at home and I crashed on the sofa for a nap. Not sure how long I snoozed. My brother got home while I was napping. We unloaded some newperinneals he bought at a huge greenhouse complex across the Mississippi, in IL. Ntousually open to the public, they had a fundraiser today for a couple of churches, so he took advantage of the chance to get in there. He made it through 3 of the 54 greenhouses in that complex, The greenhouses are massive, close to 2 acres in some cases.

Birdmama, Thank you so much for doing research on my keyboard problem. I started the old 'workhorse' (mule, today), and it's running scans and updating, but doing it slowly. I will try to do the steps you posted. I had both laptops packed last night, but at the last minute this morning, took the smaller one out and put it in my room in the armoire. It's raining off and on here and we are under a tornado watch. Just what I don't like about Spring.

Puddles, It's too bad those wrens didn't start nesting sooner so you could have seen Mama lay her eggs and then after the babies hatched, you could watch themfeather out and fledge. My Savannah Great Horned Owls have left the nest and are not being followed any more. Miss them, but have 4 other nest cams that I'm watching. The latest is the Osprey nest in Maine. No eggs yet, but serious nest decorations going on. The 3 owl species all have owlets, 2 Barred owlets, 3 more Great Horned owlets and 5 or W6 Long-eared owlets. Thatmama doesn't leave the nest very often and it's hard to make a count with all those fluffy little 'blobs' in the nest. Papa owl is a great prey catcher.

I enjoy watching and reading about the Queen and her family. I love the history and traditions they have and Britain has. The family has had some roughspots butthat makes them more like the rest of us, who have problems now and then. I sure hope Harry finds a really nice girl like Will has. Kate looks to be a very loving and kind lady. I wonder what the new baby's name will be.

I guess I'd best quit for now and start to unpack a bit. Not in a great rush, but I am tired and need to catch up on emails, bills etc.

Thanks again, Birdmama. Have a nice rest of of your evening and a lovely Sunday. Waving to all my Birding Friends.

Possum, hope you get your 'puter problems solved. I also loved xp but there was no longer any support for it and then had to go to Vista when I bought a new computer about 6 years ago - maybe 7 Everything started acting up but the highest IE you could use with Vista was 9 and I kept getting notices from everyone - including the Q to update my browser. Could not do that so bought a refurbished Dell using Windows 7. Do hope it solves my problems. Bought this lap top as a back up and cannot stand it. Keep hitting keys I have no clue what they do but they sure mess up things. Also very very hard to type on it. Cannot understand how anyone prfers a lap top.

Prince Harry will settle down when he wants to. Seems to me his father was considerably older than he is when he married Diana. Could be wrong but think so.

Have a great day everyone.

Winifred, you are right that Prince Charles was older when he married Diana. However, he was pushed into that marriage. He loved his current wife since his very young years, but she did not have the right pedigree for his offspring. Prince Harry has wanted to settle down, but his love doesn't like the limelight. He will in time find the perfect mate. The English are just very anxious for that to happen. They love their royal weddings. LOL!

possummink, I saw your post that your Great Horned Owls left the nest. I hope they live a safe, long life. I will often think about how up close I was honored to watch the building of the wren's nest. I'll never see another wren that I won't remember it. I too wish I could see the sweet babies start life.

Puddles, my maternal side of the family was British thru and thru. My grandmother, I miss her so much, slept with the picture of King George and Princess Elizabeth (I know she became queen but that is how I remember her) on the wall at the head of her bed until she passed away. My Mother, while born in NC, was raised in the once known as British West Indies where her missionary family lived. Am up way past my bedtime as everyone got messed up tonight - getting kids home that is. LOL.

Hope all had a great day.

Good Morning Birding Friends - this past weekend was e-cycling at my local DPW and I was more than pleased to get rid of electronics that I had been storing for nearly a year. I bought my sister her new PC last May and she kept the old one in her basement, at my request, so I could e-cycle it this year. Suffice it to say, she's glad the old monitor is gone.

I'm watching Great Horned #OwlCam on @exploreorg, streaming live from Montana:

Hi Birding Friends, It's been a long day already and I still have so much unpacking to do.

The above photo is the Great Horned nest I am watching via nestcam, in Montana. The babies are getting so big, that the Mama spends a lot of her time on the nearby branches, not much room left for her in the nest.{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} It's a beautiful area, with lots of geese and other water birds. I am guessing that the babies will fledge within a week or so.

I have gone through a lot of mail and tossed most of it. I'd love to do that to all of it. I got two more packages today, mostly jeans and shirts that I will need here, but probably not need in Florida this summer.

I did get all the banana plants, all the amaryllises, and spider(air plants) hauled outside and gave them a nice long drink of water. I also filled the nut feeders and put bird seed in other feeders and some on the driveway for the ground feeders. After I cleaned and filled the bird baths, I saw on the back steps to take a break. It didn't take long for the blue jays, titmice, cardinals, nuthatches, 3 species of woodpeckers, doves, a mockingbird, chickadees and of course a couple of grackles, to find the goodies and dive in. The blue jays sure love their peanuts in the shells.

The yard is absolutely beautiful, with the pecan trees, black walnuts, and buckeyes blooming and the dogwoods + redbuds in full bloom too. My paw paw trees are full of blossoms and the snowball bus**hes are loaded with blooms. Our wisterias are really pretty, though some of them got nipped by the cold temps.thathit this area last week. They are climbing to the tops of the trees that are nearby.

Yesterday, my DD, GDs, brother and I had to unload the Fridge and toss 99% of the food and stuff in there. The fridge stopped working on Friday and my brother thought it might restart, but it didn't. Now we are trying to find foods that can be used without refrigeration. I miss my butter and milk. I am going to check out a Samsung side by side tomorrow. He found one he liked with 3 doors, one of them in the fridge. That's weird to me. I don't know why there's a door inside. I'll have to look that model up and see what's what with it.

Need to close for now. Have a nice evening and be safe. Waving to all my Birding Friends.

Possum, isn't that a red tailed hawk? Sure looks like one. They are magnificent creatures but I do not like to see them as they play havoc on our regular birds - and kitties.

Suppose to be a very warm day today - yesterday was horribly windy.

Stripes decided to NOT come in last night. That stinker can drive me nuts. LOL. Shortly will go out and try and find him again. one thing for sure, he will show up when HE wants to.

Getting a lap top today - they say they are finished with it. Hope so, as I have such a difficult time with this lap top. Spend most all my time correcting.

Have a good day.
