There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Hi Birding Friends, I am polishing off my 'wings' to get ready to fly home on the 25th. DS got my flight reservation today and now I need to start packing boxes to ship and gathering my stuff together to decide what to leave here and what to send or take home. I always have problems deciding what to take or leave. In fact, I usually have a problem trying to decide anything. Character flaw, I guess.

Winifred, I am glad you all got some rain and hope you get a lot more to help break that drought. I hope when you do get caught up somewhat with water levels that they'll remove those water restrictions. I hope Stripes isn't giving you too much trouble and is being a good boy, same with the other furry critters. Wish I had some good tipsonhaving the kids take more responsibility for themselves. You are a very good Lady, doing what you do. I hope they realize that!

Birdmama, I'm glad you didn't have any damage from the storms last night. I was watching the Barred Owl Nest cam that's in Indiana and she was in her box on the nest when the hail, thunder and wind hit and that poor mama owl was terrified. You could see the fear in her eyes, movements and crouching down, though there wasn't anywhere for her to go. I got my cell phone and turned on the weatheraps to see the radars and that storm system was right over Indiana plus other states. I am not sure in what part of Indiana the nestbox is located, but the storms were in that area for sure. I checked on her this am and she's ok and both cameras are on there now. They have one in the box and another is aimed at the tree, box, and a small area around the box. Really nice to be able to see Papa owl sitting on a limb outside the nest box.

Anika, I don't think I've ever seen a robin down here in the Tampa area around my son's home. We see the cardinals and blue jays using the birdbaths and I know the doves jump in now and then. There's not nearly the number of species here that we have at home, but then they have the big variety of water birds and crows, huge flocks of crows. See lots of hawks here too.

DDIL just called and will be home soon, so I can get the car and go pick up my other laptop and get a new protective cover for my cell phone.

Waving to all Birding Friends! Have a nice evening and a good weekend.
