Re: App vs Web Site?

[ Edited ]

It took some time for me to warm up to apps, but I cannot imagine my life without them now! I still use my laptop for more involved tasks, and of course visiting the boards😁, but I also take advantage of the Q app for that.😊

Apps allow the company to personalize the user experience, such as an offer for that specific customer or an ad for a new item similar to one purchased previously.

Apps also allow the business to send updates on shipping, delivery, in stocks, etc as push notifications.  Many apps can be used while offline too vs a website that needs a connection.

I use a few apps, more on my iPad than phone.  And only for certain things--like my local weather, Amazon and Chewy--places I shop frequently.

Some apps are more convenient, like my local weather, where I can get to the radar in a step or two which I couldn't do that easily on a website.  Also, I can stay signed in on apps which I can't do on websites.

However, I find many apps don't have all the options that a website does.  Sometimes when wanting to change something in my account an app doesn't have the option and I have to go to the website anyway.

Basically, it comes down to personal preference and depends on how much I use a site and how the app itself is set up and how efficiently they work.  (I don't care for the QVC app, for instance.)

I use the QVC app on my smartphone for almost 100% of my browsing and purchasing.

It is much faster, smoother, cleaner, less cluttered than the Q website and there are always numerous app-only sales and discounts.

I haven't touched the tablet and laptop for months.

Lots of options available to choose what works best for you.

I don't have a smartphone so I don't have any apps--LOL!!  My fear is that eventually everything will be done via smartphone.  Hope I'm gone by then!!

I use a Samsung tablet, websites only, don't like apps. I despise smart phones, I miss my simple flip phone I got in 2009 for $9.99....I kept it going as long as possible until it was finally deemed obsolete, ugh.

I have a flip phone with AT&T and also don't want to give it up.  It's all I need, nothing fancy and $25 for 3 months.  I can text with difficulty.  It's not a smartphone.
