@San Antonio Gal Please forgive my crass remark as I have NO EVIDENCE whatsoever to support what I'm about to say: Maybe Kouri ran out of cash to pay her lawyers and that's the reason they were unable to present a case on her behalf. Private defense attorneys are expensive, especially for a case as complicated as this one turned out to be. Every hour of their time is billable and those hours mount up fast if there is a defense case presented.
FOR SURE: 100% Kouri will file for an appeal on the grounds of "ineffective assistance of Counsel" AND I bet many years from now (it usually takes that long to win a case on appeal) some court will grant her a new trial.
For the present cases, I presume she will be sentenced to life, either with, or without the possibility of parole.
In any event, Kouri's not finished with the criminal justice system.
Many public defender offices have excellent appeals divisions so she will be given an appeals attorney if she doesn't have any assets (or minimum assets) left after paying her private trial attorney to appeal her case..

There was an interview of one of the jurors this morning on GMA. They followed the law and had no trouble finding her guilty. Well deserved!

Richens court-appointed attorneys represented her pro bono for the trial. She also faces 26 other money related criminal charges in a separate case that has not yet gone to trial.
Prosecutors say Kouri Richins was 4.5 million dollars in debt and falsely believed that when her husband died, she would inherit his estate worth more than 4 million dollars, Her husband had changed his trust when he had suspicions that she was trying to kill him, and named his sister as executor.

The same thing happened to that nut ball Lori Daybell. Her husband changed his life insurance to his sister. Didn't end well for Lori, either. If you suspect your spouse is going to kill you enough that you change your life insurance, why do you stick around? I would high tail it out of there.

I certainly agree with leaving, but that doesn't guarantee safety.
No one needs to live with someone or be married to someone to be harmed.

Good point! I guess you would have to tell them that you changed the life insurance and then hope that they still didn't want to get you. I am glad these are things that I don't have to worry about, but unfortunately, there are people out there who do have to worry. I feel sorry for them.

Charles Vallow told police that Lori threatened to kill him. They were not living together when he was lured to the home that she was renting. He was murdered by her brother, Alex Cox. Authorities believe that Cox was involved in all of the crimes.

Both Richens and Vallow did not know about the changes. The trusts were owned by the husbands, and they were not obligated to disclose it.

I had read a bit about this murder awhile ago. When she wrote the chilren's book. And she was getting nice things said about her.
Now I am reading that she also took life insurance policies out for all three of her children.
AND that she was using Josh Grossman and having him doing free renovations in some of the properties she owned. That she was not about to continue a romance with a homeless veteran after she got her late husband's insurance money.
Glad she was found guilty. But we haven't heard the end of this story.
