Re: Anyone watching American idol?

I was surprised that they didn't vote to stay for another week, and let two go home next week.

Re: Anyone watching American idol?

I really thought it was a tacky trick for the American Idol producers to try to save Sam yet again. Sam has a great voice, but he just isn't ready emotionally to be a big time performer. He needs a few years to mature and overcome his shyness.

I don't blame Jena and Alex for voting no. It was in their best interest. I just wonder if the producers would have had this vote if Alex or Jessica had been at the bottom.

Wasn't last night the stupidest trick you've ever seen? AL is really getting desperate.

Re: Anyone watching American idol?

DH reminded me that Jena came in as a wild card....so could be very interestink.....that was a dastardly thing to do last night by AI producers.....

Re: Anyone watching American idol?

Jess can be seen when the "no" votes were counted shaking her head like she was disgusted. Jena wasn't threatened in any way. They practically have crowned her the Idol. If Alex voted "no" because he thought he'd be the Idol he won't. It will be Caleb and Jena in the finals. This is the first year I have no favorite but will be voting for Caleb. The article that they were trying to save Sam again made no sense. He would have gone home next week so saving him for a week, I think not. It was for "shock" value. The only shock value was that Jena was stupid enough to vote "no" when she wasn't threatened. It may cost her the title. As many people have to actually "like" the person they are voting for along with their voice.

I am loving it this year. I love the judges especially Harry. I couldn't watch the train wreck last year. So it's nice to be watching it again. CALEB all the way!!!! There are some great singers on this year but they pale in comparison to Caleb. He is an amazing talent!! GO CALEB!!!!!!

I am 100% in agreement with you except I love all the judges pretty equally. I think Harry is the sensible one because I think Jennifer and Keith would have used that save the first week since they seem to want to save everyone. Luckily Harry seems to be more grounded in wanting to hold out for someone he thinks might really stand a chance at winning. But I love all 3 judges. I skipped last year because of the train wreck too so I am happy to get to watch again. And I also am rooting for Caleb all the way. He's definitely a rocker and he does it well. If you don't love rock, you probably would see it as screaming but I love it and I think Caleb is a great talent. I don't hear screaming at all, I hear singing the way rockers sing. I don't know if he will win just because it can get unpredictable but he's my favorite. Time will tell but I'm enjoying it this year.

He is a one-note wonder. Even when he was supposed to be doing a country song last night (one of Carrie Underwood's), he just had to scream it. Keith very quietly said after that performance, "I can't wait until he does a country song."

Yes, screaming and running around the stage, including falling on the floor is not my idea of entertainment. He will win, but I will buy Sam's and Alex's albums.

Just remember, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington and Adam Lambert didn't win either . . . and nobody (with the exception of Carrie Underwood) can remember who won those years.

Ford, I consider you my friend on these boards, even though we have not spoken in some time. But you and I just apparently do not agree on music and definitely not Caleb. I love rock music, always have, always will. That "screaming" is singing to me. Caleb is the one who has the most talent on this show IMO. Everyone else last night sounded like contestants on a reality music show (which it is) but Caleb sounded like a seasoned professional. He is really good and definitely not a one-note wonder. Country is clearly not his thing but he still did well with it. The first song though, he blew it out of the water. I wish that's the one they ended on because he should have closed the show with that one. He is the only one who's music I would buy. I like Jena but would not likely buy her stuff. Sam bores me to tears, as does CJ (who seems like the sweetest guy, but that's not what this is about). I do like Alex, I like his quirkiness, but not sure he's capable of winning. I also like Jessica as a singer but there is something unlikeable about her that makes you not root for her. I think it will be between Caleb and Jena and probably Jena will win (she seems to be gaining momentum), but Caleb will be the successful one as so often happens.

I've always liked "soft rock," never liked the hard rock scene. I really do try to listen to him sing, but I can't get past the first minute. He hurts my ears.

So . . . can we still be friends?

Smile

How old would we have to be to not be friends because we didn't like the same music? LOL! Of course we are friends! I just didn't want you to think I was attacking your views.

Sorry about Sam. He's a sweet kid and who knows what his future holds but I don't think we need to worry about him too much. He will be okay.

Hey Qgirl26, long time, no talk! Good to 'see' you here. Caleb is our favorite as well, and I'm in agreement with what you said. I'd rather see Caleb win over Jena, but we'll see.

Hey HisElk! Good to see you too! I'm really hoping Caleb wins but I know in the past, it's not unusual for someone to sneak up on the apparent frontrunner and take it from them. If that's anyone, I think it will be Jena. We will have to wait and see.

I think the final will be Jena and Caleb. They've practically crowned both from the beginning. Don't like Alex he reminds me of Tiny Tim. Caleb screams every song. His Aerosmith version was horrible. Jena has the most stage presence and a good voice. Sam isn't comfortable on stage but has a good voice. Jess has a good voice but no feeling when she sings. She could be reading the sheet music. The Angelina pose with the tattooed leg was too much. Sam & Jess in the bottom two with Jess going home.

I agree...I think Caleb butchered one of my favorite songs. I think it just showed that while he's a great rocker...and great at screaming, his voice just isn't all that great. And there is something about Jena's voice that I really don't enjoy either. I actually think that Sam, Jess and Alex have the best voices.......but zero stage presence or charisma.

They all leave me kind of bored. I can't imagine buying any of their music....or God forbid, sitting through an entire concert. I think Jess, Sam, and Alex might benefit by losing the guitar for a song. I think they all use it as a crutch because they are such terrible performers.

Agreed, not into the screaming. Although I do think Jena has a good voice. Caleb butchers everything he actually has to sing. We talk about the guitar being a crutch every week too. Anyone of the Voice finalists is better than any of the American Idol finalists.

I completely disagree. My 19 year old son and I watch The Voice together and he's been very anti-American Idol. Don't know why, he has a lot of opinions I don't agree with but I've been telling him how much I like Caleb and how I think he's hands down better than anyone on the Voice. The other night he came in the room just as Caleb was performing and he said he had to admit that there is nobody on The Voice who even comes close to the talent Caleb has. It took a lot for him to admit that, he really doesn't like to agree with his old mom. Smile Personally, I am finding the contestants rather boring this year on The Voice. So I guess I'm in the minority a lot here. Oh well, that's okay, we can all choose what we like and who cares what anyone else thinks, right?

I don't really care for Jena, I'm waiting for this dreadful season to end......
