Is public transportation not an option? Perhaps you could uber to a bus stop and your friend or family could pick you up at your destination,

In a post above the OP mentions checking the Uber rates in Cleveland so I'm assuming that is where she lives. Cleveland has RTA and bus service but I don't know much about it. I used to take the bus into downtown Cleveland when I worked there but that was years ago.

Even though you are only 51, I would still contact your local Aging and Disability Resource Center, They may be able to guide you on who to contact. Explain your situation, they may be able to help you.

Hello everyone sorry I have not been able to respond but I just got back online since yesterday afternoon. Again, I thank all of you for trying to help and giving me suggestions! As far as public transportation I live in a suburb with many small towns surrounding me and the public transportation is not available where I want to go to visit family or friends or to go to a venue. My mom lives 8 miles from me and my sister 7 miles so it is not like they live far, it is just too much for them to visit or pick me up more than once a month. I have called all the agencies in my area and there are no services to be able to take me to visit people or go out to a venue. It would have to be a volunteer to do it but there isn't any in my area. There are individual people who drive people anywhere they want but they cost just as much as Uber or Lyft would, sometimes more. I know one of you nice ladies has a suggestion that I take A Uber or Lyft ride one way and have someone either pick me up or take me home. I think that might work once in a while so I will talk to my family and friends and see what can be worked out. It is hard with my very limited income.
Thank you all again for your suggestions as it is so great appreciated!

@sunshine45 wrote:our county has a number of services available to the elderly you may want to get in touch with the department of aging in your area to see if their are free rides available or reduced fare rides. i know in our area they go to major hospitals, some go to doctors offices, and some go to grocery stores and malls. take advantage of these services.....that is what some of your taxpayer money is paying for!
i think are services are called SENIOR RIDE and the SHOPPING SHUTTLE.
We have these in our area as well, and can be scheduled in advance.
I so hope OP can find some solution. Being isolated is so hard.

Just finished using Uber 3 times while I was on vacation........it was GREAT!!
All the drivers were fast, courteous, and had clean cars. I did tip each, but didn't mind doing it one bit. In once instance, I was standing in front of my hotel when I ordered a car and before I could get my phone put back in my purse, he was there!! Love Uber!!

As a single woman, I would not get into a person's car alone, no way. Those of you whose daughters use this means of transportation, please make sure they are using it in groups.

I'm sure you do. I just checked the uber rates , I live in s ca and have a car but was curious about the rates. Beauty was right to go from where I live to a distance of 9 miles is 14 - 20 dollars which is ridiculous.

I don't know about Lyft but the Uber cars are all GPSed and tracked.
