I didn't really care for it. Seemed like it was all killing and torture and not much plot.

It's good how people can have different views on something. I really liked it, although yes it was violent, but no more so than any police shows or action/drama shows that are put in that late time slot. It is about pirates, after all, and that is pretty much what they did...plunder and kill. JMO

I actually thought there was a plot and found it interesting. Love the twist at the end between the protagonist, the surgeon Tom Lowe, fantastic actor.... and Blackbeard. I thought they did pretty good for the first episode, but it is something sort of like the show Blacklist where if you don't follow it closely you will miss an important detail or vocabulary. I'm going to tune in next week and see where it goes. Just watching John Malkovich recite all that complicated dialogue fascinates me. I'm looking forward to seeing them delve more into his character and what made the man and the myth.
