Wish I had someone to talk to. Kitties are sleeping. Plenty of movies recorded but I just can't get into them. Noise Ibelieve from maybe the attic or ac but no one can tell me anything what is. Been going nuts with this noise for a long time. what do you do if alone-tired of crosswords that I had found in the house. Spent too much money this last week. No walk tonight for I walked up to the clinic for a blood test and other . See what it means next week at the doctors. Thanks for letting me get it out.

We are here for you @halfpint1 , but maybe you should join a senior center, where you can make new friends.

As to the "noise" you have had many, many, many people, check out your home top to bottom, inside and out, and no one has heard this noise. Your son included.

It is not tinnitus, because you've been check for that.

It's an auditory hallucination, meaning the noise is coming from inside your brain.

Your brain is creating the noise but that noise does NOT exist in reality, otherwise others would have heard it by now.

This "noise" doesn't even bother your cats.

Have you even told your doctor that you are hearing things that no one else can hear?

But, please, consider joining a senior center.

There they have many activities, and you'll have plenty of people to talk to.

The Sky looks different when you have someone you love up there.

Hi halfpint!  I am sorry you are feeling lonely.  I am just sitting here in my recliner with my iPad reading the forums.  Maybe turn on one of your movies or just a radio and the noises will be less noticeable to you.  I use the tv at night to keep me company sometimes when I cannot sleep.

@halfpint1   Neighbor of mine had some really strange noises, too.    Turned  out to be a woodpecker trying to destroy the chimney pipe.   Naturally, the bird flew away when anybody came to look.    It took a while before the woodpecker was "caught in the act."

@halfpint1  I'm never lonesome, but I do get bored and I'm nosey so that's why I come to the forum. You should always be able to find someone to chat with here. Sorry you have a problem with hearing things, that can't be a good feeling especially if it frightens you. I like to spend money too and can spend too much at times.Walking certainly is good exercise, hope your blood work is normal, getting older certainly is not for sissies.

I can not be with you but I can send you a warm hug.

Many times I feel lonely and when I do I listen to the TV or radio just to hear someone speaking. I do not care what they are talking about, that does not matter, I just want the sound of someone or something being there with me. Maybe you can do the same.

Maybe you had a long day and are overtired. Try to relax and try to think of nothing and who knows you may fall asleep.

I have to leave now, but good night and have a good day tomorrow.

@halfpint1... I am not lonesome tonight but in your current situation, I can really empathize. It isn't easy living alone and I know I would not be able to do it. In your situation I would need to be around people so I would probably move to a retirement community where there were plenty of activities and people to talk to.

I think at times we just have to make some life decisions and go ahead with them. I think you are clearly a "social" person and don't adapt well to living alone. I think we are sisters at heart....

@halfpint1   Have you thought of selling your house and using the funds to purchase an "apartment" in a senior complex.  They have various levels of living - 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom, living room, kitchen-  assisted living if needed but not necessary.

Dining room, transportation services, some have library.  Not sure what is available in your area, but this sounds like a perfect solution for you.  Never be lonely again - they are filled with people of your similar age with whom to socialize, activities.

I have a relative who purchased a lovely apartment in one and is very happy with it.  I have visited and it is a warm, friendly home to enjoy your senior years.  How it works is on your passing a portion of the purchase price is returned to your estate and the "apartment" resold.

Thanks for answering but I will never move unless I have to. I am a very shy person and only had a few friends in the neighborhood growing up. Minnesota. Sandy snuck put again-my shelter cat can't for get I guess she was maybe a little wild. Gotta go see and convince  her to come back in.

Oh girl you are not alone by a long shot. Many of us have the same feelings you have. As we get older unfortunately there are more. Sometimes are worse than others. Tonight I feel sad and lonely for different reasons. Hope tomorrow is better for both of us.
