@Lucky Charm wrote:My problem in the last 2 weeks has been SPAM calls that have been blocked on my cell phone---and they are legitimate calls.
And the worse part is, if my cell thinks an incoming call is SPAM, it won't even ring. So if I'm not looking at my phone, I won't see it coming in. If the person leaves a message, it doesn't show up as a voicemail.
So I have to keep checking my voicemail to see if someone left an important message.
This has happened with a hospital just 3 weeks ago. Several different departments of the hospital, too, that were trying to contact me and being treated as SPAM. They were leaving messages that I had no idea were there.
I didn't realize this was happening until I called the hospital and they said they had left me a message. I thought I was going crazy. Then I heard all the other messages that were left.
It's only happened with this hospital.
@Lucky Charm I mentioned this in an earlier Post. I Google each spam call before blocking. One such "spam call" was from a non emergency Police Dept number. I also check voice mail and that would also give me a clue especially if the message says the Sheriff will be visiting me in an hour if I didn't return the call.

I have a Panasonic land line phone. Use it so much more than our cell phones. On the side bar is a Block Call button. When a call comes in it says Spam Risk. I just press the button and that phone number is blocked. Doing this has reduced the number of spam calls we get but does not eliminate them. New ones call.
Also, do not answer spam. Once you do "they" now know they have a live one and will call even more.

Thanks everyone-some really good tips on here! Interestingly enough when we don't answer, they leave an automated robo voice mail saying you have been approved for a loa n up to 40,000 or whatever amnd please call us back.....So its still annoying having to delete all of those voice mails as well.
Will have to give Spectrum a try as that is who we have our landline with.....

Turning on the fax machine for a day or two works wonders too. When Mom was here I remember getting at least 15 political robo calls during election season for several days, couldn't stop the phone from ringing, she couldn't sleep. The calls would start at 8am and stop around 7pm. I turned on the fax machine for a few days, all the calls stopped LOL

They're onto that trick. They have noise cancelling headphones.
My uncle used to say he or she died and they quit calling.
