Anyone had ankle surgery--either replacement or fused?

My ankles are bone-on-bone and hurt badly; they have for several years. I take pain meds for the pain. I've been waiting for the ankle replacement surgery to have a longer history, as it's a fairly new treatment. In the meantime, I hear of people who've had their ankles fused and are doing fine. I need to hear from folks about the two methods and how they've liked what they had done. Thanks in advance! ~Adele
