Anyone ever ask for a 2nd Vet's opinion from same office?

I took my dog to the Vet's office and didn't like the lack of diagnosis given to me by 1st vet. This office has multiple vets on staff at a time, wondering if anyone has ever asked for a second opinion at the time of visit? I took my dog in for what I thought was eye conjunctivitis and 1st vet said there is no such thing as eye conjunctivitis in dogs and would need further blood test and eye test to determine the exact diagnosis. Took her to another office and this vet said it was eye conjunctivitis. and gave me eye drops for the dog. She's good now. I don't think that I would ever be bold to ask to see another vet, but was wondering if others have done so.

I would not seek a second opinion from another vet in the same practice. That creates an uncomfortable situation for everyone.

In the case of an eye problem, I'd find a canine opthomologist. We have a couple in Albuquerque, and frequently take collies there from our rescue group. Thanks to the AKC, eye problems have been bred into many collies. We're now dealing with dogs from a seizure of 139 purebred collies from the Houston area, and a number of the dogs either had vision problems or are blind.

I'm fostering a female from the seizure and she has very tiny eyes, just little more than slits, which is what AKC judges want. I don't think she has vision problems though.

No, I've never done that. I just changed vet offices because of the same issue you had with your dog (lack of diagnosis). I don't think I would ask for a different vet in the same office because I think the second vet would likely talk to the first vet and I wouldn't want him/her to come into the exam room with a bias in place. Maybe that wouldn't happen, probably depends on how big the office is or how busy they are on that day, but I still wouldn't take the chance. JMHOSmile
