Anyone else who can't fall asleep?

I can't believe I'm sitting her at 4 am and am wide awake. I tried going to bed at 2pm and finally gave up on falling asleep. So I figured I'd read the boards awhile. In an hour or so it is going to start getting light and then I'll get sleepy. Anyone else still up?

Re: Anyone else who can't fall asleep?

I've been up most of the night. I'm reading The Silkworm. . .totally immersed in it. I'm heating up some cappuccino (believe it or not, that relaxes me) and may be trying for sleep in a while. I have to get some sleep (I have two musical programs to do tomorrow), but right now I'm wide awake, just checking out the boards.

Woke up to a loud thunderstorm. I figured I would peak around on the board for a little bit while the storm calmed down. Now, I'm off to bed. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Re: Anyone else who can't fall asleep?

No problem here. Think my body is adjusted to just about any ole schedule I throw at it. Worked all different shifts including the graveyard shift and I guess my body can sleep any time I let it. Never have needed a whole lot of sleep and though that is still the case I have not problem sleeping when I decide to do so.

If this is something regular for you it might be a good idea to see what's up with it.

MY SLEEP PATTERNS ARE ALL SCREWED UP SINCE I WORKED THE NIGHT SHIFT AS A NURSE FOR MANY YEARS. RETIRED NOW AND JUST CAN'T SEEM TO GET MORE THAN THREE TO FOUR HRS AT A TIME.

I KEEP A LITTLE TRANSISTOR RADIO UNDER MY PILLOW AND CAN'T FALL ASLEEP WITHOUT LISTENING TO A TALK SHOW. ITS GOOD COMPANY .....

I can usually go to sleep without any problems. It seems to me if your body and mind are tired you would sleep, but that may be incorrect if you are worried or sick.

I have trouble sleeping all the time. The Dr said read a book a real book, and do NOT use any electronic devices at all before bed and that includes tv. (because they make your brain race). I also do not drink ANY caffeine. Well. Nothing works. I give up. I fall asleep about 4 AM daily, get up at 9 or 10. I don't work so it doesn't matter.

I never had trouble sleeping until I had major surgery a year ago. I did not sleep well for about 8 months after the surgery. It has been about 4 months that I can sleep now. I did make life changes. I drink chamomile tea iced and hot only for my beverage. I take melatonin each nite and a handful of herbs that help with sleep. No more caffeine either.

Re: Anyone else who can't fall asleep?

I've had sleeping issues most of my life but managed to adjust somehow until now. Even as a child I always was an early riser. When I was working I'd go to bed after the news (11:30) many times not actually falling asleep until 1:30-2:00AM and be up at 5.

Now that I'm retired, it doesn't matter as much I guess. But all my life I have enjoyed being up early and feel like I waste most of the day when I don't roll out of bed until 9:00AM. I just wish I could lie down and fall asleep within a reasonable amount of time. Its not the amount of sleep, I can function very well on 4 hours, its just that I can't fall asleep. I know that may sound a little strange, but I wonder if Michael Jackson had this kind of issue with sleep.
