Are you for real, onewhiteSparrow ?

Everything about me is real. I am telling it like it was.
Streets are named after my relatives for helping a whole town during the depression. The seeds was always supplied to grow fresh veggies. Grape fields and fruit trees was on their land also. No one in the whole town had to pay for their fruit and veggies because everyone worked the fields to have food for their families. Everyone helped each other. Yes, there was singing in the fields during the depression. The cattle raised won ribbons at the fair every year. The town had fruit, veggies and meat for years.
None of those people protested in the streets. Wonder why?

It cools off in the evening with mild breezes, so it's bearable now. There's been severe rain showers a few hours away -- hoping the rain comes to this area - Ventura County. Can't remember the last time it rained.
Do you have someone who checks on you or someone you can call since you are not feeling well? I find the humidity is so much harder to handle than the heat itself as I get older. Please take care. Call someone if you feel ill.
It doesn't appear @kivah has posted since the 9th, but I hope she's okay and has touched base with someone.![]()

Thanks for the important alert, but it's not just elderly/senior persons who are ill or not.
There are many of us of every age who aren't independent, whose bodies can't cope with high temps or bad humidity, outside or inside.
And it can be equally life-threatening.
Sending out good vibes to those trying desperately to cope...
I hope that relief is found ASAP.
These posts bear repeating. Thanks, @Say Nay, @feline groovy, and all others who are reminding us of this.![]()

You know, many "spiritual" songs were written out of hte despir of people who were enslaved, and longed for God to "take them home" to a better life...

I can stand 100 plus temps as long as the air is dry. In the 90s the weather changed drastically. I worked for 40 years in Palm Springs - sure gets hot there but never minded it until humidity set in - really bad. I still live on the same street I moved to and the town is in between Redlands and Banning.
My point is the weather here is humid now which is horrible when you add the high temps. We now have added the drought which has destroyed our trees, lawns, etc and deep underground water levels are dropping. We had a drought around 1973 and it was handled super well - this time - to me it is political in the handling - not the reality of it however and you see many lawns which are primarily dirt and right next door a brilliant green. How does that happen?
Two years ago the heat was so miserable with the humidity we lost a lot of our pets that were considered outside critters and they could NOT tolerate the weather - many have forgotten that already. People just left them outside and they could not survive - heartbreaking to talk to animal control officers then.
Ain't nice here anymore. If I could sell and was not so old I would be gone!!!!!!!!! Have lost all my fruit trees and nut trees except a black olive tree which is hanging in there - barely - and a pathetic persimmon tree. My other trees - mostly fruitless mulberries are struggling - water coming out of my outside tap is warm - that should tell you something. My lawns are horrible and they use to be picture perfect - now in addition to the drought I deal with ground squirrels and gophers - they are desperate also I guess - in addition many birds are gone
Yep, I am hot and absolutely detest it here yet at the same time many people here have it worse than I do - I try to remember that..
That's a great post, @Winifred, and an example of the way the climate actually has changed in recent times. I'm sorry you and others are dealing with this heat... I won't complain about our Tennessee weather, not at all.
