Anyone else having this problem?

It started Friday evening; whenever I try to respond to post, I get kicked out and they ask me to sign in again with my password.  And when I do, nothing happens.  Over and over and over again; I'm asked to sign in.  So, exit and sign on.  I can make a brand new post.  But when I try to respond to an established post.....I can't....I'm back to sign on.  Is it just me?

You have to sign in before you even begin responding to a post.

Re: Anyone else having this problem?

NOPE!  Never happened to me.

Try the following.....

Restart your comp

Clear out/delete your browser(s) caches

If you are using a Mac, repair permissions & restart your comp before doing the above.  Most times its all you need to do.

Re: Anyone else having this problem?

I haven't had that issue, but when you report an issue like this, it helps if you include information. If the mods find this post and want to pass it on to tech team or investigate it, they have nothing to go on.

If you have trouble, you should always include the device you're using (desktop, chrome book, ipad, etc), the operating system, and the browser you use. That way the mods will be able to pass the information on for testing. If there is a problem with the forums, they can't replicate and fix it if they don't know what circumstances may cause it.

Re: Anyone else having this problem?

yes !!!

it has happened to me.  i guess you have to be signed in BEFORE you write a post.  (this was not the case not very long ago!)

in addition to NOT being able to just sign in ...

i found myself (like you) having to try to sign in over and over and over.  i was in some kind of endless loop.

and guess what?

after all that fooling (not the word i would like to use) around, ...MY POST WAS LOST.   was unable to find an auto draft.

this happened more than once to me.

so i guess the lesson NOW is, be sure you are logged in before you try to post (especially if it's a LONG one)

venting over.

It happened to me, too.  I just waited a day or so, and it worked.  Just a temporary glitch.

Re: Anyone else having this problem?

You don't have to sign on before hitting Reply or a heart, but it will automatically take you to the Sign On then automatically back to what you were doing.

I usually do sign on first, though, and I am having the same trouble.  I keep getting a note to sign on or register again, then it tells me that ID is already taken.

Crazy, I wish they would fix it.

I haven’t had these issues, but I know others have and it really can be frustrating.

Nearly all the problems of this nature are related to your browser.

Some sites are particularly sensitive to the cookies/cache/website data stored on your device.  If they make even the slightest change on the site (usually a change we don’t even see) it can cause your existing cookies/cache/data to stop “communicating” properly with the site.

Unfortunately, this website is one of the sensitive ones, and I don't see that ever changing.

The very best, basic, first-line-of-troubleshooting steps are these:

1 —  Have at least 2 browsers installed.  If there’s problem with one, log in with the other one and see if the identical thing happens.  (IE is having more and more problems and they’re not being as well-supported as they used to be, so your best best is to avoid that one, in my opinion.)

2 — Be sure you have the most current version of the browser.

3 —  a.  Delete cookies/cache/website data

         b.  Close browser

         c.  Relaunch browser

I do this at least once a day with all my devices and it’s well worth the couple of minutes it takes.

4 — If there’s still a problem, be sure any addons/extensions or plugins (things like AdBlock, Adobe Flash Player, etc.) are up-to-date and that you haven’t recently changed their settings in a way that might affect interaction with this site.

~~~~~~
Shutting down the computer and rebooting, running permission verification/repair, etc., usually won't help since these are browser problems.
Hi, @fancy pantsy!  Yes, you must be signed in if you want autosave to remember your draft.  Autosave is specific to the user account, and if you're not signed in the system has no idea which user you are.
