We should be able to discuss whatever is on our minds and of importance to us.
Some fluff is fun, but there is more going on and I enjoy hearing other opinions on important and relevant topics.
QVC, and their forums, are not obligated to, and do not "owe" to their customers the ability to "discuss whatever is on (their) minds" and "of importance to (us)."
People's individual "us" is NOT everyone's "us", as amply demonstrated in this thread. No one person or handful of people speak for everyone who uses the forum. Your comment suggests that each individual poster should be able to indulge in anarchy on the forum in any way they choose, about any topic they choose, simply because "it's important" as decided *by them*, regardless of how either QVC or other posters feel about it.
Individuals on this forum do not get to determine the proper blend of "fluff" vs. "important and relevant topics." Not to mention that common sense should indicate that there is no logical reason for political debate (which is really what proponents want) to take place on a *shopping* channel. Plausibility can only be stretched so far, and "but I WANT!!" does not work for everything in life.
ETA that in 6 pages of commentary (so far) exactly 8 people have come out in favor of having political "discussions" here. Everyone else either said no definitively or did not address the issue, i.e irrelevant to topic. Of the eight people, only 3-4 are responsible for the majority of "for" posts. And by golly, they should allow this because eight people WANT IT.
I don't think so. Not even a mini-blip on QVC's radar.

Me neither.

It wouldn't bother me to have political discussion one way or the other. I don't miss that it's not here and if it were here, I wouldn't have any problem with "down and dirty" posts. It doesn't matter to me if others bash my POV regarding the election. Their opinion of my opinion matters not. However, I do think there is great value to be had in political discussion.

The mods have to sit there and delete, delete, delete instead of just banning people. It's just too difficult...
I have not read this whole thread. I get very disinterested and frustrated when there are deleted posts but it is really sad when people get nasty and cannot sustain an intelligent respectful discussion on a shopping venue. Guess this is just a sign of the times.

Absolutely not! Political, forums that appeared here in the past were among the most nasty I have ever read. It appears quite impossible for people to maintain even the thinnest veneer of civility when perched on their soapbox.

I never feel the loss of politics!

I'm remembering an incident here where posters were going elsewhere without moderators to speak their mind. They probably talk politics.
