@kaydee50 Many of the private car services in my area have closed

@tansy.  Since they use their own cars, I bet they're required to carry a minimum amount of insurance.

Yes & have had quick service when calling for a car. Drivers have told me they're really busy in our city. Tourists even call for them to drive all over the state.

@kaydee50 I highly prefer them over cab services, I have had time when the dispatcher said 15 minutes and it was closer to 60 minutes before the car service arrived.

One time many years ago when my husband had his hip replacement we stayed close to the hospital in NYC and pre ordered an Uber for like 5 am and they were tight there on time as scheudled

Nope, I always drive myself anywhere I want to go.  I never have felt safe in a car for hire.

Uber is a life saver for me. I’ve never had a bad experience & I pre book my ride for doctor’s appointments in NYC. They are never late & always reliable.

I find the Uber cars are cleaner than cabs & the drivers nicer.

I like another poster, hated when I was told 10 mins for a cab to arrive & it never did.

In NYC, it was always difficult to get a cab but with Uber, I never wait more than 5 minutes even during rush hours & holiday season.

At some point, you might not be capable, @Carmie.  I still drive but there are destinations I would rather not.

Part of what worries me is that I am in a small town.  I don't want to be stranded somewhere.

@tansy  Then you need to be talking to your neighbors & anyone else in your "small town."  Not all Ubers are the same.

I  also live in a small town.  We have Uber drivers that ONLY do .........

Airport runs

"Shore" runs

Grocery store runs

Mall (indoor & outdoor) runs

"Concert" runs

etc., etc., etc.

@tansy At the time, only what the driver had was the insurance.  Since then, the co. has had to provide some sorth of coverage.  She was in the wrong.
