We've had Fresh Market here for years, but I have never been near a Whole Foods store.  We have one which is to open here this week, and I'd like to know a little more about them before I stop in to check it out. Anyone here familiar with Whole Foods?  Care to share?

It has great stuff and it's sometimes referred to as Whole Paycheck.

I don't go very often. I mostly shop Fresh Thyme and Trader Joe's.

Re: Anyone Know Whole Foods???

We have Whole Foods in my area (Atlanta). To be honest, I think their prices are way too high. I've gone maybe 5 times, walked the aisles with my cart and come home pretty much empty handed.

Their bakery items look very nice....really nice, but their cakes and stuff are massively expensive.

I've bought some fruit there. Expensive and no better than what I can get at Publix.

You'll get a lot of opinions, but I'm not a fan. I DO go there though to get the body wash my nephew uses so I can put it in his college care packages.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Thanks, Gidgetgh.  You are exactly what I was hoping for - an opinion that will help me when I check out the store.  I was afraid that the prices would be a bit over the top. I really appreciate your honesty.  And thanks to Mary Bailey too.

We are having a new Organic store coming soon, it's called Thymes Farmer's Market.  Never heard of that before.  Also our supermarket has opened up a large place that was next door for all organic foods.  Now our Food Co-op will have competition and that's good.  We don't have Whole Foods near us.

Where I live they only open stores in the  high income areas like where Bill Gates lives......they never open them where real people  live.

"Whole Paycheck" @Mary Bailey.  Ain't that the truth, lol!

I buy two things there......Tom's of Maine Deodorant (because I recently decided I didn't want to use a deodorant with aluminum any longer) and I treat myself once in a while to a cherry galette in their Bakery section.  Other than those 2 items, I'd never shop there.

I have one near me, but I don't go often.  When I do go, most of the time I'm looking for some interesting cheese.  They have the best selection of any of the stores near me.

I can shop Publix, Publix specialty store, Trader Joe's, and several wonderful gourmet markets within a mile and a half.  For the most part I go to Publix Greenwise store -  lots of good, fresh organic choices, great fish, a good bakery.  Still, a quarter mile beyond them is WF -  and all that great cheese.  And, yes, I do think cheese is addictive.

The only store we don't have is Wegman's -  I can dream though.

ETA:  I might have added the 2 reasons I tend to ignore WF is that they can be expensive and still, they are so busy many times finding a parking space is a task.

Don't respond.....just heart

[ Edited ]

@Trinity11

I just wanted to ♥️ your last response to the Keto thread...but it got poofed before I had a chance.  Doing good!

Trying something:

If I edit a really old post & tag you...you can see & read without it being bumped up to the top...or me starting a new thread.

The key with this is...don't respond, just heart if you've seen.

If you want to say something to me, just edit one of your old threads by tagging me.....Hopefully this will make sense.

I like it.  Good quality meat and produce.  Most of the produce is local to the area.  Fresh. Good bakery.
