IMO, he's wrong to do this. These men put their lives on the line in unbelievably difficult situations; their anonymity is essential. I hope he's not putting his fellow Seals in even more danger than what they normally experience.

He's put his family, friends and anyone who might be near him in public in danger. It's not like they're going to send a sharp shooter after him. They're more like to send a suicide bomber and bombs don't discriminate about who they kill.
They put contracts out on them. Remember when the author had to go into hiding? If you're referring to Salman Rushie, the Ayatollah Khomeini issue a fatwa in his case and several bomb attempts were made including one that destroyed two floors of a London hotel. So, yes, other people's lives were at risk. In the case of the SEAL, we're talking about Al Qaeda which is known to want to take as many lives as possible when they target someone.
Thanks for the refresher. I had forgotten some of the details. Do you know if his situation has changed?

It was an idiotic move. His photo is out there and his name. I suspect he now has a target on his back.
You're right. He does have a target on his back.
Unfortunately, those closest to him will also be in danger. Whether he did it or not he's putting others at risk now.
And that's the really frightening part.
And of course, no one on earth knew his identity before he chose to go public. Right?
anyone with serious intentions would already know who he was. They don't need CNN to inform them.
How would they know?
Wow.
Can't come up with an answer?
That's why there's a code of silence, so outsiders won't know.

wookie, I know there's still a price on his head and he still takes precautions when it comes to letting people know his whereabouts. He's certainly leading a much more public life than after the fatwa was issued initially.

Thanks, Adelle. We can only hope he remains safe.

My dad worked on the bomb in White Sands and Sandia. He witnesses the bomb tests in Nevada. Never said a word. Died from radiation induced cancer in 1972. We were awarded funds from RECA, An act of congress for survivors.

Not necessarily.
Absolutely. He chose to give Esquire magazine an interview a year ago and they promised to keep his identity a secret. Right. If he had never sought the fame to begin with if only to be known as the "shooter" no one in the public would have ever known his identity. It was his choice.
He broke the code. And sadly, probably for what he saw as his fame and fortune.
