Hey, John, glad you got to see a great game. I understand hockey even less than I understand football, but I love watching it! Everyone who follows hockey in my family is a Blackhawks fan so I mostly watch them - we were switching between the World Series and the Blackhawks game, but I had to leave before both were over. I was at my BIL house because he has a 55" TV and HD. I have an old box TV, 25", which my BIL gave me when he got his new TV. So nice because my old TV was 20" and all the color was shades of green!
Hockey is definitely NOT the same on my TV!

Guess that makes 3 of us.
That makes 6 and I live here. Last year we had the worst team so I don't know any of them. I do now and tonight was very disappointing for us. I am surprised some fans left early but I wouldn't have.
I didn't see the thread earlier or I would have posted. Hopefully tonight will be a little more exciting and something to write home about.
Congrats to the Giants!
It's cloudy so far but the sun is trying to come out.

First, they were good sports when we played them in the playoffs. No over-the-top personalities....no dumb antics. The only drama was the game itself.
Second, I always root for the National League (unless it would be the Reds or the Dodgers--I could never root for either of them).
Third, I still hold a grudge against the Royals for the 1985 Series. LOL! Logically, I know the terrible call that caused them to win was the umpire's fault and not the Royals' fault.....but logic has nothing to do with a sports grudge. LOL!
Hi CardinalGirl - wondered why you were rooting for the Giants! You can't hold a grudge for 29 years!! We need a winning Missouri team

Congratulations Giants!
Enjoy the game tonight!

Hey mewsmomtoo
We gotta find a way to get you a bigger and HD tv set. Since one of my top hobbies has been electronics since the 1950's, I try to keep up with some of the later technologies when it comes to Video and Audio. What I don't spend on "misc. things" I put into our electronic world in our home.
Watch some of our games on our patio room 60" HD and the others on our entertainment room 110" front projector screen. Both of complete audio surround sound systems. Since I can no longer get on the ice and skate during my adult league hockey games, this helps me get the feel of still being on the ice, and that will have to do for me.
Tell you BIL he needs to upgrade to a 4K UHD TV set and ask him to give you his 55" tv. All he is say is "no", so what do you have to lose?
Thanks for a bit of hockey talk. I too have always liked the Blackhawks. My wife has a Blackhawks jersey signed by one of their former coaches who had a son that played in the USHL in our city. She also has it signed by the Great Bobby Hull, who she met while in Chicago.

Hoping for a Royals' win tonight. Had guests last night so I couldn't sit with the laptop! Is there a better pitcher than MadBum? I don't think so. Wow! I think I'm a new Hunter Pence (sp?) fan. He's different and I like that. I like the Giant's manager, too. Well spoken and gracious - yet a tough competitor. Impressive.
You don't know a lot about Royals' players? Here's my biased knowledge: Young team. Supportive of one another. Civic minded. Do a lot for kids in the city. Fans love the players and manager. Several are new dads for the first time during this season. Cain just bought his single mom a new home in Oklahoma. A dream of his since childhood. Shields, pitcher, is struggling with kidney stones, passed one during the playoff games - got the day off for that one. Doesn't excuse his shaky pitching last night! Our manager is a man of faith and has lots of baseball experience. Calm guy. Good friends and Georgia farm neighbors with Jeff Foxworthy. Supports his players, but sometimes leaves pitchers in too long!
Have fun tonight. Husband at the stadium tonight. Son at the stadium last night. Son & his family are on the way over to my house now, with pizza in hand. My TV screen is bigger than their TV! BTW - no excuses, but radio sports analysts mentioned several families with smaller kids left the stadium early. I don't get the impression our fans are losing the faith. We're having fun and grateful for the rare opportunity to play in the WS.
Again, have fun on the thread and I hope all players stay injury free. Play ball!
